Game Thread tOSU at Miami FL, Sept 17, 7:30 pm ET, ESPN

Bull. When was he really given a chance to do so? When he was in the game, we actually moved the ball, unlike when the starter was in. Miller was 2-of-4, while the starter was 1-of-13.

1-13... It's so hard to believe. I feel like they could post a sign up on campus Monday and find some former HS quarterback that could do better than 1-13.

The bottom line is this was a game that was screaming for them to pick someone...and they didn't. It's obvious the carousel isn't going to work with these 2 players...if this game wasn't proof of that, I don't know what will be.

Absolutely. Before the game even started I expected it to be just like USC Pryor's freshmen year. Several ineffective series by the senior before coach realized that was that..in comes the freshman and never leaves again. Problem is, Braxton didn't look good either. So the carousel continued.

Still, I just don't see how Fick doesn't name Braxton the starter from here on. He's the future...period...

It also doesn't help when all your throwing options have been dropping balls to begin with. Granted some of them were bad throws, but I would imagine its hard for even the backup QB to have complete faith in his receivers in the situation he was in. I think that's why he took off so much. He could tell the pass wasn't gonna be there but knew we needed more than just throw-aways.

I really do not understand why everyone keeps bringing up Urban Meyer's name. I live in Tennessee so I see a whole bunch of SEC football. Obviously never saw him when he was at Utah, but at Florida he was a one trick pony - and that pony was Tim Tebow.
Can't argue too much with his record there, but personally am not a fan and I don't see him being our answer at coach.

I have always been curious - not as the head coach obviously, but why isn't Spielman coaching at tOSU. IMO he is the epitome of a Buckeye and listening to him announce games, he may not be the most colorful, funny or whatever, but he is by far the most knowledgeable person announcing games.
Bring in Spielman to at least coach the linebackers.......he will make them the best in the nation and teach everyone what it means to be a Buckeye

Ever consider Spielman may not want to coach? He is a single father of 4 after losing his wife to cancer, heck he has some kind of deal with ESPN that keeps him relatively close to home when he calls games...I doubt he wants to put in the 20+ hour days during the season being a coach requires.

It is hard to believe that the coaches couldn't at least find a few quick reads to get a QB in the groove. Something just to complete a few.

The QBs weren't good, but the play calling was terrible IMO.

Yeah, I liked the early bubble to Fields that went off his hands. That seemed to be blocked well. Not sure why they never went back to it.

These days, the SEC is nationally televised. Proximity doesn't make one an expert anymore. I saw Urban Meyer at Florida. I saw him at Utah and I saw him at Bowling Green. There's no doubt in my mind that the offense would be in better hands with him at the helm. He does have other baggage though, and all of that needs to be considered if they decide to look for another coach after this season.

As far as the Speilman idea goes... If people think Fickell is in over his head, why ask for Speilman? Fickell has more than a decade under his belt as an assistant at the major college level. Spielman has no relevant coaching experience to his name, and I'd say that he's even less well equipped at this point to coach LBs than the incumbent, Mike Vrabel.

They should have gone back to it for sure, but that first pass wasn't great either.

Why they didn't let Braxton throw a few bubble screens is beyond me though...the offensive play-calling is so bad though...it's just ridiculously bad.

I dare to say, Jeff Bowden bad. That is about as low as I can go...
