GPA?

Anyways, I think the loss to NW will end up being good for us in this one. I know it hurts our SOS, but it had to crush Iowa. Nothing like coming off a giant win over MSU to NEARLY lay an egg to Indiana and then actually lay it at NW. Iowa has to be questioning themselves big time right now, and I think Tressel won't let this team start flat again this week.

Besides, when the running game gets rolling, we're a tough team to beat this time of year.

Post padder... :wink2:

This game should be a real test of our secondary. I'm optimistic our guys can step up though.

my prediction

I'm hoping Coach T realizes he risks ruining TP's mojo if he abandons the passing game.

Just when it is totally obvious to everyone, including Coach of the Millenium Kirk Ferentz, that we will be running the ball with a vengeance this week, we are going to see the short-to-mid passing game this week - Sanzenbacher, Posey, Stoney, Saine.... like the Rose Bowl, we'll come out throwing the ball.

Iowah will have 11 guys in the box with HGH dripping from their chins, all lathered up ready to tackle Boom and the the ball will be whizzing over their heads and The OSU will be up about 21-3 before they realize what's going on and then you will see true Tresselball, or at least my favorite kind of Tressel ball. The kind where you get a big lead and then you eat up the clock like 2 a.m. pizza and there's nothing the Coach of the Modern World can do about it....

No middle school girls emoticons for me.... just

Go Bucks! Finish strong!

Can't find any other pictures...[/quote]

I don't typically root for kids to get injured, but here's to hoping Stanzi goes down with a knee injury early in the first quarter. :pimp:

Pass we should. I had to do a double-take on the stats, having one of those "c'mon they can't be that bad" moments. But they are. Iowa is your 70th ranked pass D. They allow a little over 6 yards per attempt, and around 220 yards per game. BHGP had a great post on how much worse their defense is in 4th quarters of close games. Good read. Contrast that to their 4th ranked rush D, and what looks to be clear skies and calm winds in Iowa City on Saturday... you get the idea.

On the other side of the ball, Iowa is 5th in passing efficiency, but I hear Stanzi has been off of his game lately. Chekwa played a hell of a game last week, so I hope him and Torrence can contain McNutt and DJK, which could be potentially big mismatches.

On another note, not that it matters, but we're the #6 Scoring Offense, #2 Total Defense, #1 in Turnover margin, #5 Scoring Defense, #6 Passing Defense, #4 in Passing Efficiency, and #3 in Pass Efficiency Defense.

Silly. And we don't even control our own destiny for the freakin' Rose Bowl. What a season.

I don't think just running the ball or just passing the ball will be enough against Iowa. We have to be two diminsional and show that we can do both. We need our offense to dictate the pace of the game and take pressure off of the defense. Iowa's pass D stats are a little inflated due to the fact that most teams abandon the run and only pass. Their secondary isn't what their D-line is, but it's not in the bottom half of the country.

It may take awhile for the run game to get going, and we may have to be a bit more creative with it without getting too cute, but I just hope we stick with it. If our offense doesn't put our defense in bad spots, then I think we can virtually shut down Iowa's offense.
