Game Thread tOSU at Illinois, Sat Oct 2, Noon ET, BTN

Jeff Amey's breakdown of the Illinois game.

First down passing and third down runs were lacking in success.

Because most fans didn't have knowledge of the wind situation it left many with misconceptions about the offense and angry about the playcalling. What we got in this game was a classic example of how Jim Tressel calls games in adverse weather conditions when he feels he has the better team and a lead. You may need a roll of 2002 vintage rolaids to watch it, but when it works (and it usually does), the Buckeyes win.
The statistics aren't much to see. Here they are in all their glory.

I repeat, I like Tressel ball much better when you have a punter who can boot the ball more than 25 yards and special teams that score -- not give up scores. Nonetheless, it was clearly a case of Tressel preferring to have the ball in Illini hands.
