Game Thread tOSU at Illinois, Oct 15th, 3:30 ET, ABC/EPSN

If before the game you were offered a 10 point lead after 3 quarters, would you have taken it?

15 minutes. Finish strong, Buckeyes. :oh:

Last I checked, we managed to score 27 against Nebraska in 3 quarters, last week. We called noticeably different plays, did we not?

Or is Illinois really that much better that we can't call a screen?

Illinois is better on defense and this game is being played in 30-40 MPH winds.

AND OSU has their stud RB back. That has to factor into the playcalling, along with Brax's inaccuracy.

They've taken a couple shots, but they didn't connect. They are going with what works - I wouldn't bitch too much about it.

I realize you don't want to be making any kind of high and/or long passes with this wind, but there's this play called a screen that's barely more than a soft pitch. In fact, I think we had a TE score on one once...

I agree, forget the big pass plays, but please please please call a freaking screen or quick 3 or 4yd. slant. Running on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and long after a penalty when you were on the edge of FG range before it and getting nothing is not exactly a great idea. Get an extra 9 yards back on some quick 3yd. screens/slants and have a better FG shot.

That is the way I look at it. A very short crossing route or screen isn't going to be an incompletion by Braxton. It'd also help out our run game as they'd have to at least care about the pass.
