I really meant OOC games - and Texas wasn't a 4 TD game just sayin....

I'll be absolutely shocked if they win by more than 20. For one, Cal plays the type of offense that usually moves the ball in spits and spurts against defenses that play off the receivers like Ohio State and for another, I get the feeling the offense won't nearly be as crisp this week as it was against SDSU. Call it a hunch....

38-20 or so is my prediction.

True. It's encouraging that Steve Miller is starting to make some plays. Guys like him and Spence need to have a huge game coming off the edge.

Also think Roby and Grant are physical corners that can jam them.

It's going to be the first real test on the two critical positions that we had to replace this off-season: STAR and MLB. Grant played a couple of series last year vs. Cal and almost didn't play football again at OSU. STAR has to be effective defending the slot receivers and tackle well against the short passing game. I'm hoping for big games for Grant and Powell and I think they can deliver.

I agree that we have to do that, just don't like the risk of injuring a key player just to win by 60.

Not saying play scared. Play smart and I feel no sympathy for teams that can't stop our 2nd or 3rd string. What I've seen the last two games with the vanilla play calling is a lack of intensity and focus late in the game. Just going through the motions. That is what leads to injury but I agree that we need to open up the playbook and think we will see page 3 of the playbook Sat night.

It'll happen again this game too. I'm not too confident with getting more than two sacks or so. They're going to come out and go quick throws and I havee a hunch we won't have much of a answer for their offense. However they won't hav much of an answer for us either. I would go ape shit with a statement game here and that would be less than 350 yards total than less than 17 points. I think their offensive style is just the type that is built to give us problems with speed in the backfield and a problematic tempo.

Well, how often does Ohio State play a non-B1G opponent on the road? Once every 2-3 years. It's not like we're dealing with a large sample of games until you get into ones that would be considered to be not recent.

Also, these out-of-conference games are on the road because they are usually strong programs that justify Ohio State giving up a home game in their 105,000-seat stadium. Games against stronger programs equals fewer blowouts.

Not to mention that with the way Ohio State schedules, an out-of-conference road game is always going to be the first road game of the season. That always requires a little bit of adjustment for the team.

So I agree with you... I think anybody predicting a blowout is off the mark.

This is what I'm thinking. They are really hurting on defense. We run right at them and they will have to try and match points which will lead to turnovers. Don't give them any help with turnovers and it's not close. Watch how chippey it gets. Watch for the cheap shots on our QBs.
