tOSU -9.5 at NW'ern (ov/un 122.5) Thurs 7 ESPN2

If the first match up is any indication this could be another difficult road game. Buckeyes need to keep the positive momentum going after yesterday's win and grab another "W" in Evanston. Just win, baby.

I still want to know why some -- including national hosts/analysts with CBS -- are pushing so hard for Chris Collins to be the head coach at Northwestern. He doesn't have HC experience.

Some of the same people were throwing his name out there for Illinois too last year. I must be missing something on Collins (outside he grew up in Illinois).

Good question. Beats me. Coach K's coaching disciples have been remarkable mostly for their failures. I have no reason to believe that Collins will succeed where others have failed, although he does have a famous father. I'd stick with Carmody for now at least until the university gets serious about supporting their program financially. No point in trying to replace the head when the body is embalmed.

Collins is generous, though - he was a key guy on the Duke team whose loss to Arkansas in 1994 allowed them go to "Hog Heaven"

It will be interesting to see if Matta goes to his small lineup a little more again the mildcats
? Matchup to watch: Ohio State was lax guarding Northwestern?s side ball screens two weeks ago, and the Wildcats took advantage with 11 three-pointers. Not until coach Thad Matta went with a smaller lineup, with Deshaun Thomas at center, did the Buckeyes pull away for the win. How well will they defend the screens tonight?

? Notable: Ohio State has won 24 of its past 25 games against Northwestern. The Wildcats? win was 72-69 at home in 2009. ? The past three meetings in Evanston have been decided by a total of six points, with the decisive score coming in the last four seconds. Six of the past eight games in Evanston have been decided by four points or less. ? Aaron Craft?s six assists against Michigan State moved him past Curtis Wilson into third on Ohio State?s career list with 477. He still trails Jamar Butler (579) and Kelvin Ransey (516). ? Northwestern has lost seven of its past eight games, the last three by an average of 26.7 points.
