tOSU -9.5 at Illinois (ov/un 124.5) Tue 9 ET, ESPN

What can you do but laugh? Basketball is a long season and there is a long way yet to go. The loss is frustrating, but big picture? Pretty meaningless.

It's not like being the top overall seed means anything for OSU anyways.

It means we get the privilege of having the 3 next best teams that weren't a 1 seed in our bracket...who wouldn't want that? :dead:

As much as it sucks to lose, it was a good game and a great performance by Paul.

Gotta tip your hat to the kid and move on. And, as a matter of fact, it was actually pretty cool to see his mom and dad there in person to enjoy what he accompished tonite. There is a ton of hoops left to be played this year, and as it plays out I feel our Buckeyes will be going DEEP into March. But, for this night, give it to Illinois and let Mr. and Mrs. Paul enjoy a night that they can treasure forever.

Peace

I almost guarantee Paul will only have about 10 points in Columbus. Just like I'm telling all my Indiana co-workers(I work in Richmond), your beatdown is coming Sunday. Don't be surprised if we don't win by 20 plus in either matchup at home. I just hate it when Matta refuses to call timeouts when teams start a comeback. Why does he always save them until the end?

I personally love Thad's timeout strategy here: make the players figure out how to right the ship and fight through adversity, especially early in the season in a game like this. It's how Phil Jackson manages runs and timeouts and I've always been a huge fan of this strategy.

MJ and Kobe usually figured it out, lol.Phil looked like he was watching an opera when coaching the Bulls..never could be accused of micro-managing

Agreed. Let the young guys ride the fire in January. I guarantee he'll call a timeout in that situation in March.

FWIW, this team needs is lacking nastiness. Hopefully it changes, but damn, leadership is lacking a bit so far this Big Ten season.

Moore had 38... 13-18 from the floor, 7-10 from three.

Jordan Taylor's "big time" moment against the Bucks last year was 27 points, 8-13 from the floor, 5-8 from three.

Robbie Hummel also had 35 (with 8 three pointers) in 2010. Then again, OSU won that game and Turner had 32, both of which softened the blow of Hummel's career night.

Paul also had 4 blocks.
Entire OSU team 0 BLOCKS.

Sully & Thomas good O poor D.
Buford good O (when he's not in a slump) avg. D at best, when he's in the mood.
Smith, suppose to be a great defender (not really seen it, too much) not a good shooter, & less than 50% from the FT line.
Craft, works hard, very good defender and distributor. Turnovers at the wrong time continue, and the kid is just not an outside shooter.

But this team will improve as the season continues, Indiana at home is now a huge game. IMHO
