tOSU 69, at Indiana 52, Feb 10 6:30 ET, BTN

Here is a brief explanation regarding the weak "handshake" after the game. Seems like Crean has too many other things on his mind:(

PD
* Just like he did after the Hoosiers' loss at Ohio State, Indiana coach Tom Crean spent his postgame news conference talking about how little his young team knows about being tough and finding ways to win. He also blew through the postgame handshake with Matta, offering a quick hand that, from the reaction, seemed to even surprise Matta with how quick it was.

Crean is ridiculously focused on finding ways to get his team going and took about an hour to come out to talk to reporters after the game, so anything that is not directly related to his players gets short shrift for now. So the handshake wasn't a big deal to me, though it seems to have caught the eye of some fans.

I was somewhat surprised that Indiana went to a zone defense after Turner went to the bench so early in the first half. I would have thought that Indiana could have matched up fairly well if they had gone man to man when Ohio State was without Turner. That seemed to be the only really bad mismatch for them.

Indiana is a very poor team and has a long way to go. I think it is going to be at least 2-3 more years before they are really competitive in the Big Ten. I also have some reservations about how good of a basketball coach Crean really is. I know that he did very well at Marquette but he also had some very good players. It will be interesting to see going forward.

Agreed about the Indiana situation, but Crean is a quality hire, he deserves and gets a break.

Coaches normally bad mouth their predecessors to justify their present losing, (see RR, CW projecting blame on bare cupboards left from previous administrations), but Ty Willingham and Lloyd Carr fail is not even close to the Sampson debacle.
