not the start i was hoping for.OSU_Buckguy;2300603; said:i'm not optimistic about tomorrow. fortunately, we won the first go-round despite shooting 33% from 3, while attempting 7 fewer free throws.
for us, the key will be finding ways to score within the arc, while simultaneously limiting scum's hot hand (40.2% from 3). the common theme among our 4 losses is shooting way, way too many 3s. each loss witnessed 50% more 3s than our average number of 3s attempted during victories (24 vs. 16). if we shoot 3s in bulk, that's a tell-tale that we're lazy, which is an odd recognition since osu is shooting a respectable 37.4% from 3 (87th percentile). i think matta recognizes this. we've averaged 9 three-pointers over the last 4 games and have shot 42%.
so...
tomorrow, like the last meeting, may very well rest on osu's perimeter defense (3-point defense = 84th percentile) and scum's perimeter offense (3-point offense = 98% percentile). the skunkbears went 6/20 from 3 three weeks ago, which is no surprise since osu probably has the nation's best defensive backcourt.
