This team was only going to get as far as Craft improved and unfortunately we have seen where that got us - as a whole it really seems like no one has improved - frustrating for sure, but can't make the Final 4 every year - look at Kentucky

But at least Kentucky cashed (literally) a couple of those runs in.

Ohio State hasn't finished yet even with top flight talent and now, when the team is clearly mediocre (and also had a ranking that was more reputation than substance), not cashing one of those runs in previously is looking worse every passing game and "effort" like what we saw today.

I'm not even upset really. You don't lose virtually all of your experienced players in 2011 and then a cornerstone player in Sully and another very experienced player in Buford and expect things to carry on. When the players on this team other than Craft and probably Ravenal realize that and put their big boy pants on and play basketball like men, this team will improve drastically. Until then, no amount of bitching, moaning, screaming or yelling is going to change anything with this team.

This game was absolutely terrible. Amir had that great game against michigan then followed with a couple of very poor performances. Not sure why.

If there was a bright side I was pretty happy with the energy that McDonald played with and then Amedeo. If McDonald can get his positioning on defense down a little bit more he can be our best center.

Wow, heaven forbid they don't win 30 [censored]ing games every year.

For a football school it's hilarious how spoiled the basketball fans are.

football school? Is that all we are? That's the mentality that keeps the Buckeye basketball program from elevating to elite status.

Whether or not the perception is correct or not, until Ohio State wins a title in the current tournament era or at least in the lifetime of anyone under say 50 years old, they are a football school first and 513 is right.

Win a title, and people may realize that the reality is this program is much different from the perception.

Program took a major step back from changing that perception today. Thus, the complaining.

They lost a game at the Kohl Center and they're 18-7. This is hardly a tragedy.

The complaining is a result of people not being able to come to terms with the fact that a team that won 94 games the past 3 seasons isn't that good this year.

The football team last performed this poorly in 2004. (I give the 2011 team a pass). I would venture to guess if you look back through those game threads (try Iowa), you just might see a lot worse complaints.

No reason why we shouldn't expect better than we've been given this year, especially considering that the outlook for next is probably worse (if DT leaves).

Why though? There's no consistent post presence without Sully. They lost a four year starter in Buford and replaced them with largely unproven young guys. DT is still the entire offense most nights. Craft, for as magnificent as he is defensively, is a mediocre offensive PG. Ross is still a work in progress. And, the three point shooting has been pretty subpar since Diebler graduated.

Lets be honest, the recruiting the past couple of years hasn't been as strong as it was from 06-10(ish)...and I think we're seeing the results of that. We have some good kids coming in the next couple of classes, and maybe guys like Q, Amir, and Thompson take the next step.

As much as I love Buckeye basketball, I just don't think it will ever approach the popularity of the football program for myriad reasons. We're not Dook. We're not UNC. We're not Kansas. Matta has brought us to heights I never imagined would happen on a fairly consistent basis. Maybe he eventually gets over the hump and wins a NC, maybe not. I'm just gonna enjoy the good years and accept that we may have a "down" year or two a couple times a decade.

We expect better then what we got today. I know it's harder on the road but we beat these guys before. This game is inexcusable.
