tOSU -11.5 at Nebraska (ov/un 119.5) Sat 7 BTN

Good that they got this one in the W column and in the rearview mirror. Good effort by Nebraska - they can get their signature win against someone else this year. Smith was due for a big game, and he delivered. Amir had one of his most productive games. JJ once again talked about his son in a broadcast where his son was not playing - I think he brings him up every game.

I've kept quiet but is that what you really think? JFC. Some of you act like there isn't an opponent on the floor.

Shooting can come and go but blocking out getting matched up on d and running your offense should be a given...yes a mistake can happen once and a while..but the consistency isn't there thats why these games are lost or closer than they should be.

Odd game, but a win. Thank the good Lord for Lenzelle Smith Jr; he was a beast tonight.

Yep - nobody else for OSU made better than a third of their field goal attempts. Great free throw shooting, too.

No you don't. You just criticize the present. DeShaun Thomas shot 6-18 and Ohio State got a road win. That's cause for celebration.

I will celebrate Smith's performance because he played like he did in last years NCAA Tournament. This is what I thought he could do all year but I think Sully's inside presence gave him more room to shoot or drive. I also liked Williams 6-7 on FT's. A win is a win but this performance won't be good enoug most nights on the road in the Big 10 is all I'm saying.

No, but it was good enough last night. We would all like them to play to the very best of their ability for 40 minutes every time out. They're not going to. No team does. But it was good enough to get a road win last night. Will it be good enough Tuesday? Very doubtful. But I'll take them playing their B game last night and still getting a win if they bring their A game Tuesday. Because I believe if they bring their A game Tuesday for 40 minutes they win in AA (is a whore).

Good teams win when their best players beat you on a given night and are usually consistent with it. Great teams beat you on those nights and when their best players are off, they have other players step up and light you up. If Ohio State wants to be great, there has to be a lot more nights from LSJ like last night. Amir is coming along and it was good to see Ross able to stay out there for long periods last night. We need at least 8 guys ready to contribute at a high level. Craft is finally taking over on this team the way he should be. DT will get his and Tuesday we'll need every one of them.

I know that it is his son but I also am getting tired of Jackson talking about his son during an Ohio State game. I mean aren't there any other players in the conference that he could talk about.

The free-throw shooting would have been a lot better if Craft would have made that last one to cover the over:wink:

LINCOLN, Neb. — In a season in which Ohio State has been most consistent at being inconsistent, why should last night have been any different?

Leading by 15 points with less than nine minutes to play against a Nebraska team that had won two Big Ten games, the 11th-ranked Buckeyes watched their lead get reduced to five in the final three minutes before escaping the Devaney Center with a 63-56 victory.

“We let up,” said guard Lenzelle Smith Jr., who led Ohio State (16-4, 7-2 Big Ten) with a season-high 21 points. “We were manhandling them the whole game and we got into a comfort zone and said, ‘Yeah, we won this game.’

“In the Big Ten, no game is won. As long as there’s time on the clock, there’s always a chance for a team to come back.”

Smith said the way the game played out at the end elicited a mixed message from coach Thad Matta in the locker room afterward.

“He said we didn’t play well. There are some things we’ve got to work on,” Smith said. “But we’re 7-2. We got the win. We did what we came here to do. But we’ve got to get better.”

The victory moved the Buckeyes into a tie for second place in the Big Ten halfway through the conference schedule.

Nebraska, which trailed 53-38 with less than nine minutes to play, crashed the offensive boards for second and third shots and got as close as 58-53 with 2:40 remaining. The Cornhuskers had three shots on their next possession to get closer, but none of them fell.

Smith and Aaron Craft made 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute to keep the Cornhuskers at bay.

“We could have gotten it to three late if we just tip one in,” Nebraska coach Tim Miles said. “Who knows what could have happened then?”
