tOSU -0.5 vs Sparty (ov/un 130.5) Sun 3:30 ET, CBS

The poor transition defense and lack of ball movement really hurt. If OSU moves the ball like they did at the beginning of the second half, they are tough to beat. Also, last two times OSU won the Big Ten Tournament they lost in the Sweet 16, hopefully this will give them some extra fire. Maybe better to go in under the radar.

Normally I feel terrible whenever Ohio State loses, not today. It was going to be a tough out period going up against Sparty. Beating them after we just destroyed their senior day in dramatic fashion was a tall order but the Buckeyes still went toe-to-toe.

Proud of this team for giving me one of the best games I've watched all year.

most of the college basketball message boards agree wholeheartedly with your final point.

for instance, here is duke's thread (scout) for the game: link.

I thought Thomas played some of his best today. Really tough.

I also thought there were some extremely questionable offensive possessions/decisions down the stretch.

Great game, though. I honestly thought this team was softer than soft until these last two weeks. They absolutely proved me wrong, and if they bring this intensity and toughness into next they could make some noise.

It's not an obvious statement because there's OSU fans that won't admit it. The Heat did win the first two of three from the Mavs in the Finals, but lost the series.

Only difference. Ohio State won't get the opportunity to prove themselves in a 7 game series. MSU has some good, physical big men that will give just about anyone in the dance absolute fits. I think this year, we could potentially see 3 to 4 B1G teams hit the Sweet 16.

The B1G was just an impressive conference this season.

So now OSU is 1-4 in games that Kitts and Valentine work together this year? For a game that Izzo even claimed was extremely physical, MSU had very few fouls in the second half until very late, and that made an influence because when Green went over the back for his 4th foul with 2:17 left, OSU wasn't in the penalty and didn't get FTs, and went down and didn't get any points in the subsequent possession. But OSU has to execute better offensively, move the ball and find the open man more.

"They wanted it more" is the default armchair QB rationale for a team losing a close game.

It's also clearly a reach in a game where tOSU outrebounded Sparty. The 3-point shooting was the difference.

The turning point for me was Deshaun making the first 3 and Craft getting called for a questionable offensive foul. That negated the shot and would have put us up 5. Then they went on a run and took over the pace for the most part. Missed opportunities is usually what its about in closely fought game.

I feel a lot better about this team today than I did a couple weeks ago. Have to just keep battling and make some more shots.
