OK, I have the 2001 UM :scum3: game on my computer, converted and edited - ready to go. I usually split these on to 2 DVDs to preserve the quality as much as I can. But that would take forever to torrent. Problem is, I'm not sure how to compress it to fit on one DVD. I'm working with iMovie3 and iDVD3 on a Mac G5. Any suggestions?

THULL,

Rocket's idea to encode to divx is probably the best way to go to reduce file size, but I don't mind downloading (and sharing) two DVDs when that is probably the best route to maintain quality. The truth is if enough folks jump on your torrent, then it would take less than a week to distribute with typical broadband speed.

I capture to mpeg2 using an ATI AIW card and a football game comes in at about 9-10 gigs with the settings I use. I have last week's Browns-Seahawks game cappped and while I haven't tried it yet, I am thinking of joining the files together as divx and then re-encoding to DVD as a means to compress to one DVD. I don't know if that would work, but it may be a path to follow if you wish to offer DVDs. One thing I do know is that it is a lot of encoding / re-encoding.

The main thing to note is that whatever you choose to share, the community would appreciate it.

Once I have DLd the DVD version, I'd like to convert it into an avi or a wmv file so I can use it in my Windows Media Player to make highlight films....

any help on the best programs to convert DVDs to avis?

VirtualDub MPEG-2. Open source and free!

http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/stable/

If you wish to maintain audio sync, you may need to use "Full Processing Mode", but if you are going to put the video to music, then use "Direct Stream Copy".

I think this is a stand alone app, but you still may want to download and install VirtualDub first. It comes in quite handy. It is also open source and free. Each of these two only render to avi.

Also, if one's goal to is to rip clips from DVDs to use in another DVD compilation, then VideoRedo is the answer as it will maintain the native mpeg2 format. It is retail software.

Thanks and the reason we wait is that Tim's is very professional and very well done. I could have uploaded mine but it has the commercials in it. That is why we wait on Tim's. But you can feel free to upload yours if you wish. There are lots of games we have on the torrents page in more than one format. Anyone can upload a torrent and add the URL to the wiki page.

I have about every game from 1999-2005 on VHS. If anyone is interested I can work on transferring those to DVD. I love watching the old Bellesari games. Good times... :scum3:

If I remember correctly. I believe someone asked Tim if he had the 2002 season he could convert into dvds. He said he didn't but if someone would send them to him that he would convert them. So if you sent copies to him that would be great. I don't know if my memory is that good or if Tim would still be willing or if you would be willing to make copies to send to him. I really like the dvds Tim makes and I think that would be the best option.
