LOS ANGELES (AP)?UCLA needed an extra five minutes to chop down the Lopez twins.

Stymied most of the game by the 7-foot brothers, the third-ranked Bruins broke out in overtime and defeated No. 7 Stanford 77-67 Thursday night to clinch the Pac-10 title outright.

The Bruins (27-3, 15-2) won their third consecutive regular-season title on their home court for the first time in three years and put themselves in solid position to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Pat Calathes scored 17 points and Saint Joseph?s closed Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse with one more upset win, beating No. 8 Xavier 71-66 on Thursday night.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)?Even though quite a few Providence fans rushed the court after the Friars beat No. 13 Connecticut 85-76 on Thursday night, there wasn?t a whole lot of celebrating among the players.

The Friars kept alive their chances of qualifying for the Big East tournament with their second win of the season over the Huskies, who had already clinched a first-round bye and were trying to finish second.

?Everybody?s playing for something different,? Providence coach Tim Welsh said. ?You can?t get too happy because you can get very sad very quickly in this league.?

ATLANTA (AP)?Coach Oliver Purnell knows Clemson might have hurt its chance to earn a first-round bye in the ACC tournament next week.

Zack Peacock hit four straight free throws in the final 16 seconds to help Georgia Tech beat 24th-ranked Clemson 80-75 on Thursday night.

?We?ve got one game left, I hope we fight,? he said. ?Obviously, we can win that game and we?re in good shape going into the tournament. That?s what we have to focus on.?

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP)?For long stretches Thursday night, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo was sure his Spartans were dogging it.

Looking flat and struggling to find a rhythm, No. 17 Michigan State trailed Illinois by as many as 10 points in the first half and had no answer for center Shaun Pruitt?s 6-foot-10 frame in the lane.

Turns out the Spartans weren?t flat, but ill. But they found a way to overcome Illinois and illness to get a road win, 59-51.

I watched the first half of this game. Stanford was up 28-14 at the half.

Yeah, I thought it was a great second half. I'm not too sure of the foul called at the end of regulation though. I thought Stanford got away with a clean block. UCLA outscored Stanford 59-37 in the 2nd half & OT.

That foul call with a couple seconds left was BS. It was a clean block by a defender who went straight up, and his arm was even straight up. I liked the quote by Stanford's coach after the game "I thought we made some good defensive plays down the stretch."

But Stanford gave up 3 offensive rebounds, including one on a FT miss, that allowed UCLA to catch them in the last 2 minutes of regulation.

That might get UCLA a #1 seed, even without winning their Conference Tourney.

ST. LOUIS (AP)?Adam Emmenecker had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double and No. 20 Drake beat Indiana State 68-46 Friday in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

Leonard Houston scored all of his 16 points, including three 3-pointers, in the second half for the Bulldogs (26-4). Drake, the top seed for the first time in the 32-year history of the tournament, beat eighth-seeded Indiana State (15-16) for the third time and will play either Creighton or Bradley in the semifinals on Saturday.

ESPN - Midwest storm delaying Cincy's arrival for game at No. 14 UConn - Men's College Basketball

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The start of a game Saturday between Connecticut (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) and Cincinnati has been pushed back four hours and could be moved to Sunday because of the winter storm in the Midwest that left the Bearcats stuck in Ohio.

The game, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. in Storrs, has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. because the Bearcats have been trapped on the ground in Ohio.
