Not to get too off topic, but I would MUCH rather have blue chips we miss out on head to Georgia. As opposed to Bama, Clemson, and LSU I mean.

With juggernauts like Vandy, UK, UT, USCe and recent newcomer Mizzou in The East, why is it such a surprise that UGA hasn’t done more? And Urban has only been gone from UF for like 10 years or so.

Because recruits don't care about the same things as fans. Georgia is a very good program with three 11-1 regular seasons in a row. They put guys in the league at a high rate. Your scarlet and gray glasses view doesn't mean a thing to them.

But UGA has been arguably the best recruiting program the past 3 years and have nothing to show for it really.

They generally are overrated every year. Smart is only marginally better than Richt, and I say marginally only because Smart so far is a better recruiter at this stage. Results on the field are about the same.
