Tony "Benedict" Alford (meh)

He is not extremely critical of his replacement on the show. He just points out the fact that they don't block anymore. Kirk Barton says the same about the non-blocking and I believe the two of them over you until I see your highlight reel. Ohio State won a national championship with a team of blocking receivers under Zach Smith. And you may not realize this but Zach's receivers were not fullbacks.

If the 2023 receivers cared to get their Louis Vuitton jerseys a bit dirty then maybe Hartline could claim a championship a well. Keep in mind that Zach brought in Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jameson Williams. Hartline can simply buy recruits today. If you have something you want to share about how "most people consider" Hartline a way better coach then please do let us know exactly what that is. Because it seems like that's a closely-guarded secret outside of recruiting, which is not as clear cut as football fan simpletons preach.

I am legally required to comment on Alford, so: Fuck the cunts up north.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I'm going to be kind.

Let's start with Kirk Barton (our definitions of scumbag may differ):

"Kirk Barton, a former first-team All-Big Ten offensive tackle who played for the Buckeyes from 2003-07, reportedly has been banned from the program for revealing team secrets, such as formations, schemes and personnel changes, while working as credentialed media."

Kirk Barton is banned from the Ohio State football program and facilities. A youtube search turns up a cornucopia of nonsense with this guy. Let's not forget various issues and arrests involving alcohol. So, how does this paragon of football knowledge get this inside information and why would he be doing a podcast instead of coaching somewhere?

As for Zach Smith: The guy who was fired for a lewd history from getting $2000 of sex toys sent to him at the WHAC, recording a blow job in the coaches offices, taking pics of his genitals in the White House during a visit, the guy whose decade of documented spousal abuse allegations and spousal protection order got Urban Meyer and Gene Smith suspended, leading to Meyer quitting?

The guy who still can't believe he got fired for that stupidity. He has said that his firing impacted his career greatly. He's not allowed around the program for obvious reasons, so how can he claim to have all this insider news? To know how Coach Day was making his decisions?

Summary: I'd rather set my nether regions on fire that believe a word either of those people said.

Kinda weird to feel disrespected when he was the 3rd highest paid RB coach in CFB last year.

1. Frank Wilson, LSU -- $950,000
2. Dell McGee, Georgia -- $805,000
3. Tony Alford, Ohio State -- $773,000
People are weird. They get their feelings hurt over something and then go on tilt pretty easily at some point down the road. Sometimes years later.

I believe I have read in the past he was looking for advancement and wanted to be a HC. I’m wondering if this is just simply hurt feelings of bringing Kelly in who is known for being a run game guy and TA didn’t like the idea of working under him and a bit jealous that he hadn’t moved up the ranks higher by this point in his career.

Thats irrational thinking but entirely possible.

Why would you leave a loaded room with a NC caliber roster right now for AT BEST a lateral move. Of course it’s not a lateral move and we all know that, just saying that a 3 year deal at close to same salary as the deal you are on seems suspect. Even if he sees the writing on the wall long term and don’t see a future beyond this year, why not stay until the end of your contract and then reevaluate? I guess if you are worried you won’t have good options for jobs after the tOSU contract is up then you grab a 3 year deal now while you can? If that’s the case then it’s the opposite of “betting on yourself”

Additionally, I’ve read he doesn’t interview well and if he feels his career has hit a ceiling and he feels any pressure from Day regarding RB production or recruiting then that could play a role.

All in all this is a very strange move.

to act like neither of them know anything is crazy. I’ve learned more from Smith’s breakdowns of football film than I ever did watching games or playing the game as a youngster.

if you believe half the crap you’ve read on the internet - yikes.

To act like either of them are reliable enough to trust a single thing they say.......especially Kirk fucking Barton.....is crazier. By a magnitude of a billion.

Him recording podcasts and posting them publicly while so fucked up on his drug or drink of choice that he can barely slur his way through a sentence really makes me think he’s a reliable and trustworthy person (in addition to the multitude of other issues).

I think it simply boils down to Day knowing that this year is critical. We've seen him, some might say FINALLY, take it seriously and he's cleaned house and is putting together a dude squad. He's in a fight and needs to trust the people around him, whether he's right about that trust or not. Clearly, Alford's not that guy and It wouldn't make sense to keep him around and they both knew it. I don't care if he goes to scum and earlier is better, as long as he's gone and we, the only team that matters, do better because of it. I think we will.

You have a tree in the Grove? You ever beat Michigan on the field? If you have comparable qualifications to break down film then you can talk on it.
Did I purchase access to film that I wasn't allowed to have? Did I bilk subscribers out of money in a fantasy football league? Do I say blatantly stupid or false shit for clicks?
