Tony "Benedict" Alford (meh)

Saw this on the scout board...

ND Fans thoughts on Alford

"Congrats OSU. You're 2016 florida recruiting just became elite. He's like a father figure for kids down there. Your 2016 class will be nasty."

"He got Louis Nix to commit when ND didn't have a Head Coach. If you put Meyer AND Alford on a kid... Jesus, it's not really fair."

"Just wait. Alford will flip a kid late that you've never thought was an option. The kid will say that Alford has called him every week just to be there and has been a mentor thought the whole process even when he was committed somewhere else. Alford is a beast."

"****.....our best recruiter.....UFM going to running things for a while....."

"Can't blame him. He wants a head gig and Meyer will get him one. Not sure any coach can have elite success at ND with their head up their *** administration."

"I can't wait to see the talent he will pull without the nd bs.."

"Alford may be Meyer's biggest "get" in this year's recruiting haul...."

 I'm not clear on the succession protocols of a CFB program. Who comes next if the associate HC is unable to perform their duties? President pro-temp of TBDBITL? Secretary of the Alumni association?
Meyer would likely make one of the other coaching staff a temp AHC until Alford could return. Believe it or not, Alford's title is just more than window dressing to get him more money...some will have to step in for Meyer should he become unavailable. You really think a football operation like Ohio State doesn't have such contingencies?

Is he good at developing running backs???? I see the Domers were 68th in rushing last year.

His official Notre Dame Bio seems to suggest that he can coach running backs:

The biggest takeaway from his bio is that his RBs rarely fumble. It's the little things that turn good to great, and great to legends. With a higher quality of RBs at OSU, I'm sure he'll work wonders under Meyer. It says a lot that he coached the 2nd highest rusher in Iowa St history.
