Oregon jumps all the way to no. 5. Looks like strategic voting by the Pac-10 coaches.

Looks like they're hoping Oregon will sneak ahead of OSU and get the no. 4 auto-bid.

Actually that was the BP consensus projection (aka BB73) for where Oregon might end up in a human poll. No conspiracy theory needed, thank goodness.

I must say I'm a very lucky fan. I'm a fan of Ohio St. and Oregon and both finished the regular season in the top 5. I'm not one of those fans who jumps on the bandwagon of whoever's doing well either. I think I deserved it after they went 8-4 and 5-6 last year. btw, I'm an Ohio St. fan first and an Oregon fan second. O-H

Last week, Oregon was ranked 8 and their only win over a ranked team was a 3-point win over No. 22 Fresno in Eugene.

Last week, Notre Dame was ranked 7 and their only win over a ranked team was a 7-point win over No. 21 scUM in Ann Arbor.

This week, Oregon is ranked 5 with no wins over ranked teams.

This week, Notre Dame is ranked 6 with one win over a ranked team.

Oregon's resume got weaker over the weekend, yet they closed the gap with OSU considerably. If that makes me a conspiracy theorist, then I am one.

Just a reminder. The 2 human polls that are used for the BCS are the USAToday-Coaches poll that was posted on page 5, and the Harris Interactive poll due out later today.

The AP poll is NOT part of the BCS standings any more.

But relax - we will be #4 in the BCS and get an automatic BCS bid.

Agreed, everyone needs to chill.

We are the lead pipe cinch for the BCS at large.

It's now a question of Oregon vs ND for the 2nd spot and quite honestly I'd like to see them use all the same logic they have been hinting at regarding putting Oregon in the Fiesta.

The regional tie in between Pac 10 and Fiesta, Pac10 getting screwed last year, OSU will sell the game anyway so the 2nd team can be Oregon, yadda, yadda yadda.

I'd laugh my ass off if all the bullshit they have been spewing turns around and bites ND in the ass today. Won't happen but would be tremendously funny.

If ND ends up 6th in the BCS (which I think will be true), they get an automatic bid, one which takes precedence over our #4 bid, but we'd both be automatically in. Oregon at #5 won't even be able to beg at that point.

One thing about the at-large bids that most people don't realize is that if Utah or some non-BCS conference team was #5 and ND was #6, our #4 BCS ranking wouldn't get us in. Two non-BCS conference teams in the top-6 would get both of the at-large bids before they looked at #3 and #4 to see if they are 'automatically' qualified as non-champions from a BCS conference. But that hasn't happened yet.

Just want to support that. We'll be #4 in all three polls and on the computers, we will be #3/#4 on the computers. Notre Dame? Bring 'em on!

According to

http://www.tellshowbcs.com/bcsc.html

we dropped to 7th in the Harris?????????????????

Who in the fuck is Rich Tellshow?

Anyway, I just saw Mark May on ESPN's bowl projections, and he said he thinks Ohio State beats Notre Dame "easily", saying our defense is better "by far, BY FAR!" than any that Notre Dame has faced this year. He also said our offense is better, with the exception of USC's, than any that Notre Dame has faced...he gave props to Troy Smith, Ted Ginn, and Santonio Holmes.
