  • Wow. Ok. Time to get this [Mark May] done and upload it in record time to give you all a heart attack LOL.

REMEMBER GUYS WHEN YOU DL WITH uTorrent YOU ARE ABLE TO STREAM THE GAME WHILE DOWNLOADING SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE DOWNLOAD TO COMPLETE BEFORE ENJOYING IT!

I will be discontinuing the direct download method once we get the torrent issues figured out here. Wish I could keep it up but my home connection just doesn't have the extra UpBandwidth to put it up alongside the torrent's initial seed.

    Enjoy

    Unregistered torrent pass

Just a heads up if you didn't already know, but the torrent says it has an unregistered torrent pass when trying to talk to the tracker

    Hi Neilmj-

A friend of mine and I both have this same problem. I've read a lot about this "unregistered torrent pass" error by Googling it.

According to uTorrent, it's a problem with the tracker, not the client.

I read one post yesterday where someone (on a different tracker) having the same problem, found relief by contacting the tracker's SysOp, who discovered that new users weren't being correctly registered in the tracker (for downloading torrents specifically). As both my friend and I are new users, I was wondering if this tracker has a similar problem.

Perhaps this applies to you as well?

Regardless, werlynrm and rdubbs007 have kindly provided direct downloads for the first two games of the season to those of us who cannot get beyond this frustrating torrent error.

    Cheers!

I'm looking into this. Are there any new registrants who *have* been able to download the games by way of the torrents?

Did you get it figured out Clarity?

Disapora provided good/useful information, and it's certainly possible that new registrants aren't being properly registered with the torrent. That said, if that's what happening it started when we split to two boxes, and I don't know (given the coding of the bridge) if/when/how we might be able to fix this.

As I said in the beginning of the season, I was going to evaluate over the course of it whether or not the torrents area was something BP should continue to offer -- there are a number of pretty compelling reasons to not do so (there's at least one viable alternative; with the BTN growing it's only a matter of time before we get a C&D letter), but perhaps the biggest reason would be that I can't really support and troubleshoot an add-on above and beyond the site itself.

Anyway, I'm going to keep working on this, and I'll report here when I know something one way or another. But yes, there does seem (based on anecdotal evidence) to be a problem.

Well, just to let everyone know that would be curious, given the axe of this area on the site, I would continue to upload torrents each week in the foreseeable future. I would just have to use a different tracker is all. No problem, I enjoy providing this service to everyone and can relate to those that have the need to download it (overseas troops: I was in Iraq in 2003 and only got to see the OSU Wiscy game :( ). I will definitely continue on, although I would be very sad to see such a thread as this one go away. Go Bucks.

Didn't say it's getting the axe -- just saying that may have to be on the table at some point. I'm working directly with the developer of our tracker and its vB bridge right now trying to get a fix (assuming we've identified the issue by way of Diaspora's information), and if it's possible to make it work properly, than that is going to happen. All I was saying above is that (a) the BTN *is* going to crack down on torrents at some point, and (b) if we reach a point where trying to deal with and support the torrents area gets in the way of my limited ability to deal with main site-related issues, then I obviously have to prioritize the bigger issue.

No need to make plans for a new vehicle yet, like I said, we'll give it the season to sort it out one way or another. The immediate hurdle is sorting out the tracker registration (possible/likely) issue, and I'm on that. No ETA, I'm limited to the timeliness and helpfulness of the (terrific) developer's email responses.
