Toledo @tOSU, Sat Sep 17, 7 ET on Fox

It’s so stupid for this to be a night game. MSU @ Washington will be a more compelling game to watch. And it might be interesting to see if Nevada can pull an upset at Iowa. (Holy crap. Ferentz might not make his annual bonus for winning 7 games this year.)

Hopefully JSN is healthy and ready to go. It would be good to get him a little work before the Wisconsin game. I have a nagging fear that the injury is worse than they’re letting on and could have a negative impact on the season. I hope I’m just being a nervous Nelly. I’ll feel a lot better when I see him out there at full go again.

If JSN is dressed for practice it's not as bad as you might think. At least when I played if you're hurt fairly bad you typically spent the day with trainers and not out at practice.

They are going to go at the corners hard and fast. Hopefully the work they do this week shows on the field this Saturday.

Toledo's QB Finn is a pretty good runner. He had 500 yards last year and has 138 yards this year in their 1st 2 games (at 7.3 YPC) I'm more concerned with him possibly killing us running than throwing (he's a ok but nothing special passer) DL and LBers need to stay disciplined and not over pursue

Arky States QB was a good runner too until he got hit early and often then his passes to everyone but #7 looked like a scared reaction to what was going on. I think we'll be just fine as long as the Offense keeps their path for improvements heading that direction

I wasn’t worried when they sent him back on the field briefly against ND. I figured the medical staff never would’ve allowed that if the injury was serious at all. Now I’m not so sure. If he winds up missing two games then I’m thinking maybe the coaching staff decided that using him as a decoy was worth the risk of further injury. That has me concerned. That never would’ve happened under Tressel or Meyer (or Fickell).

Hopefully I’m just being paranoid. Hopefully he’ll get some limited reps Saturday night.

Maybe during the game he was able to convince the coaches/staff that he was "good enough" to play. So they put him out there. Maybe then they analyzed the situation and realized that he isn't "good enough" to play, and they took him out. Then, maybe, the following wee of practice, they continued to analyze him. And that leads us to today, when they're still analyzing and coming up with an answer.
Just a guess.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they put him back out and immediately threw him the ball? I don't think the intention was to use him as a decoy.

I do think you're being paranoid. I don't think they'd put him back out and risk the rest of his season frivolously. I think the idea is, like CJ last year, sit him in a game or two you can easily win without him in order to get him as healthy as possible for the games you need him.

I hope we see both him and Fleming on the field Saturday, but if we don't I won't assume the worst about the coaching and medical staff.
