Toledo wants Syracuse's 33-30 overtime win against the Rockets to be vacated after a Big East Conference official acknowledged that replay officials wrongly awarded an extra point for a kick that was no good.

Toledo athletic director Mike O'Brien says he has asked the Mid-American Conference commissioner to request that the Big East give Toledo the victory.

I think that Oklahoma tried the same thing after that deal up in Eugene with Oregon to no avail.

Toledo got screwed on that call. Why was it officiated by the Big East to begin with? I thought OOC games were not to be officiated by the home team's conference crews, or an outside conference, but I guess I am wrong about that.

When a non BCS school goes to play a BCS school (with no return date) it is all about the money the non BCS school receives. I don't think that the non BCS school has the leverage to dictate who does or doesn't officiate the game. My guess is that when Toledo (like when they played at Ohio State) signs the contract to play at a BCS school they are delighted to just get the game and are just concerned about how much $$$ they will be getting. Undoubtedly Syracuse wanted the "home conference officials advantage" and it paid off for them for this game.

MAC: No way to award Toledo victory

TOLEDO, Ohio -- The head of the Mid-American Conference says there's no way to take away Syracuse's overtime win over Toledo despite a blown call on
an extra point.
Mid-American commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said Monday that NCAA rules say there's no route to reverse the outcome once the game is declared over.

i can somewhat understand the blunder by the on-field officials. the review booth official should be out of a job, though. the error was completely unacceptable.

I can't even understand the on field screw up. The official didn't even look up to see if it went through. The ball wasn't over the upright, only about 3/4 of the way up. It either went through or it didn't and it clearly didn't. The guy under that upright should at least be reprimanded or at most fired for not even trying to do his job.
