Toledo +3.5 at Syracuse (ov/un 54.5) Sat Noon, ESPN3

Nope it was reviewed and the big east released a statement. Um they messed up sorry we promise will do better next time. I'm sorry but if they want to make a statement they need to start firing people over such obvious mistakes. Not this is we missed up sorry for you bullshit.

I just don't understand how anyone could possibly call that a good FG on a review. Where they watching it on an 8-bit B&W 10in. monitor? That isn't something you "just mess up."
After the game the Big East released this statement in regards to the play: "After studying the videos of the Syracuse extra point attempt at 2:07 of the fourth quarter, we have concluded that the ruling on the field that the kick passed between the uprights was incorrect, and that the replay official made an error in failing to reverse that ruling. In reviewing the video, we have determined that the angle from behind the kicking team shows conclusively that the ball passes outside the right upright.
"Our review of the process determined that the replay official mistakenly focused his attention on the sideline angle, which proved to be distorted. We are confident that our officiating staff will learn from this situation in order to prevent a reoccurrence."
a lot of good that does now

My question is, OK, the refs on the field blew it, but how can they fuck up the replay? The LOCAL news here just blew up a still that showed the ball in front of the goal post...ergo, there is no way it went in. Seems pretty simple to me.

Actually, this seems like a call that should be even easier to make in real time than by replay. You stand under the upright and look up. For the ref in question, if the ball goes to the left of the big yellow pole it's good. If it goes to the right it's no good. That official had no other responsibilities on that play. It's not fast action and it's not a judgment call.

I think the ref under the goal post should be suspended, and the replay guy should be fired.

Indeed the person who made that decision needs fired immediately. That is an embarrassment.

Agreed. It was clear to me in real time that the kick was missed, and it was flat-out obvious on the slow-mo replay. The replay official has clearly showed that he is utterly incapable of doing his job. Thus, he should be relieved of his duties. There's no other conclusion.

Toledo complains about extra-point error

Toledo wants Syracuse's 33-30 overtime win against the Rockets to be vacated after a Big East Conference official acknowledged that replay officials wrongly awarded an extra point for a kick that was no good.

Toledo athletic director Mike O'Brien says he has asked the Mid-American Conference commissioner to request that the Big East give Toledo the victory.
