Titanic (official thread)

Adding to the concern for passengers, this has to look like a king-size exposure for investors.

Wondering if this is one of those investors

Any investors in the company and the two billionaires' estates should absolutely be financially liable for reimbursing the US and Canadian Coast Guards for the cost of the search. If I call for an ambulance to take me to the ER, I'm damn well going to get billed around two grand.

Fell down a big rabbit hole last night observing the most prominent shipwrecks in the world, their location and depth and looking and pictures of the wreckage.
I have formed the opinion that if you go down there as a tourist, you're a total asshole and I really don't see the value of scientific research on the matter either.

These wreck sites are silent, cold tombs. There is even a code of ethics related to scientists that if they come into contact with any human remains they are to turn off cameras and exit immediately. Apparently there is a wreck in Lake Superior where the water temperature is so cold that it has frozen the body of the late captain who went down with the ship. He is still in tact down there and pictures exist of "Old Whitey"

Leave the dead in peace. I find this whole practice distasteful.

Agree.

Not the most sympathetic group of people to experience a disaster in nature/the ocean.

OK, this asshole has me rooting for the ocean. Why is it the US's responsibility at all? Never mind the millions that the USCG is spending on it. It's a British company in international waters with no US citizens on board. Also, these are the guys who repeatedly ignored all warnings, complained about safety regulations and fired the guy in charge of making their tin can safe because he was delaying things.

I've been cheering for the ocean from the start....now I'm hoping it's a blowout and this idiot spokesman somehow ends up in jail.

Certainly, threatening the US government, and other people in general, will scare the ocean into delivering this group back to safety.

A bunch of millionares were scammed hundreds of thousands of dollars to get into a cheap pod designed by diversity hires.
The pod broke and all millionares died.
Nothing of value was lost, just laugh at them, If they had donated that money or do something to help the poor those people would be alive, as jesus said do not hoard treasures on earth.
