Tired of quick annointing of NFL QB's!!

Thump

Hating the environment since 1994
  • Just two weeks ago I heard every NFL analyst saying how Michael Vick had finally "arrived." Then just last night, I heard Mike Ditka saying, "You can't allow this QB to lose the game for you" plus the other analysts bad-mouthing Vick.

    Give me a break.

Then this morning everyone is "ALL OVER" Eli Manning after just a few weeks ago saying that he was over the hump and one of the premier young QB's in the league.

Just so sick of the bandwagon mentality of NFL analysts and broadcasters.

Seems to be more rampant in the NFL than any other sport.

Did you guys see JP Losman pass for a career-high 340 yards this weekend? I think he has finally turned the corner and is probably one of the 2-3 best young QBs in the league... Paint the endzones in Canton! :tongue2:

A few weeks ago, they were back on the Tom Brady love train. The week of their big game with Indy, everyone of them were on the "I'd take Brady now to start a franchise over Manning". They were riding Tom Brady like Carol rode Mike Brady(not vice versa).

Brady comes out, throws 4 pics against Indy, then losess the next week against the Jets.

Good call on Vick though. Theyt love him, then they dog him.

Their riding the Tony Romo train here in Texas!

That is so true. I was at the Monday night game with the giants. the second quarter and the chants were, Romo, Romo, Romo, Then when he started the 3rd quarter and threw the pick the crowd started chanting Bledsoe, Bledsoe, Bledsoe. It was so hillarious.

I notice it a lot in baseball too, one week a team is the best in baseball the next they won't even make the playoffs and the week after that they are the best in baseball again. Regardless of the sport, ESPN's analysis is a joke.

Blame Steve Philips and John Kruk for that.

    They're the worst offenders.

TJ seems to annoint 2-3 players as 'one of the greatest to ever play the game' almost every week. I miss the days when people were hired for great analysis and not to stir up ratings.

Unfortunately for Vick, you can't play the Bengals every week. I'll bet that the weekly "he's the greatest" hype will closely follow whoever just lit up the Bengals for 300-500 yards passing. Charlie Frye fans take note: this is your week!!!

    I agree with this thread...

The lesson here should be they are never as bad as they seem one game and they are never as good as they seem in others.

All sports are about matchups, emotions, and things like that and each game is different.
