Interesting, looks like Beck followed Drew Mehringer on Twitter on/before December 24. Mehringer joined Herman at UT after being Rutger's OC - presumably he'll be calling plays as he did at Rutgers and Beck will be OC in name only. Lends credence to the rumors going around about this move well before the shitshow on New Years Eve.


EDIT: This piece seems to suggest it's Beck's show to run, contrary to my thoughts. We'll see.

"The sources said Beck, 50, will run Herman's offense at Texas - just as Applewhite ran Herman's offense at UH (serving as the lone offensive coordinator, calling plays, running the offense in practice, etc.), and that once Herman lays out the offensive philosophy and principles - Beck will be in full charge of the offense while serving as QB coach."

Exactly. Herman knows how to develop QBs and call plays. He could help manage both spots and simply capitalize on a much needed influx of talent from Tim. Beck has been a monster on the recruiting trail and frankly OSU is sitting pretty with a ton of top Texans for next year too.
