Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

As the QB coach, that's on Beck. Meyer will take blame, because that's what a great head coach does. But Beck isn't getting it done. With this amount of talent, he should have at least had an identity to this offense, and they simply don't have one.
Meyer didn't select the QB and everything flowed from that. Look, obviously I don't KNOW what is going to happen any more than anyone else, but I'm just saying I'd be really surprised to see him fired after one season. Meanwhile, Beck MIGHT be the main problem area, but none is really knows that and Meyer absolutely owns a big part of this considering the QBs and the changing offense that he described early in the season etc. There are so many things that play into this, but fans seem to jump to one conclusion and think "hey, if just this one thing had been different, we'd have been golden". That's just not likely true. This was always a different season with a host of different factors and pulling Beck isn't likely to be a magic elixir.

I hear what you're saying. And that argument can be made for many of us who thought inserting JT would turn us into last years team with even more firepower. It's never an easy answer, especially when fans are making opinions and we're not behind the scenes. But it does seem weird that the same struggles we've had this year, are also similar to the struggles Nebraska had while Beck was there...

Maybe so, but from my limited vantage point, it's hard to really equate Nebraska's situation to ours. While there may be similarities, there are so many extraordinary differences between the two situations, it's really hard to equate.

I'm just saying, that a few Nebraska fans brought up valid points of how he stiffled the offense in the same way that its happening now

I think there's plenty of blame to go around. The difference is most of the parties that should be (and are, from what I've seen) taking blame have also earned some benefit of the doubt. Urban, Warriner, the line, JT, Cardale...they've all be high performers in the past. There doesn't seem to be anything in Beck's history to suggest that this season is an aberration in preparation, player development or play calling. In fact, judging by our Nebraska friends, it seems to be just the opposite.

The defense grew stronger together, while the offense began to fall apart. I don't there is any coincidence that it happened while completely neutralizing Ohio State's Heisman candidate by refusing to get the ball to him.

This has been my biggest issue all season. I can understand certain things but refusing to give it to Zeke when it matters? I am pulling my hair out over it and I hope it is the gray ones this has caused me. While there are a lot of variables and it is pure conjecture, 7-10 more carries for him get us a win last Saturday night imo.

But I also look back to how Kenny G could step in and run the offense like clockwork. Same for JT. Same for Cardale. Braxton was pretty darn good when in. Now this. There has been only one variable changed in my eyes and it is Beck stepping in. OC issues aside, the position coaching leaves a lot to be desired and we better see marked improvement and fast.

The problem with neck isn't the loss. If we performed close to expected this year and then lost to Msu 14-17 but had 300 yards of offense then it's not on beck. We struggle with really bad teams and then lost to Msu in a game that would have been 17-0 if not for 2 lucky turnovers. This is a shit show. A bad coach keeps a team from improving, it takes a really bad one to make a team with 95 percent the same players get so much worse. Zeke was wrong when he said the coaches didn't put them in the best position to win. The coaches put them in a place where they could t possibly win no matter how hard they worked. That is all.

This fiasco reminded me of something I think Taylor said in an interview after Hawaii. They were having trouble with the front and the o-line was begging for some base run plays to be called even though they weren't ideal against that defense. When the coaches finally relented, we put together a long drive to put the game away after not being able to do anything on offense.
