They showed on ESPN this morning the 2003 team and where those players were playing now. Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, Mets, Tigers......it's just the Who's Who of big market teams.

Professional baseball sucks.

It probably doesn't help that the Marlin's ownership takes cheapskating to the next level

Developing talent isn't their issue

Which would you rather root for? a team that has a small payroll and trades it players, but wins a world series every 5 years, or a team that has a huge payroll, trades for the best players, but never wins the series?

Obviously the World Series but the 97 Marlins spent money. The current owner Loria isn't working under the formula you laid out. The Marlins spend less on payroll than they get revenue sharing from MLB. They won't be winning anytime soon.

Contraction anyone?

World Series aside, Tampa Bay and Florida should not even exist.

The Marlins entire payroll is less than 7 million. They make more than that from revenue sharing.
