You never come back from Copperhead Road
We've seen it over and over again the last decade or so...we line up as the favorite..only to see the dawg have the game of their season.
This year alone..TSUN had their longest drive of their season (by far) and Funchess remembered what his hands are for. Va Tech..good lord..that kid played out of his damn mind. It seems to happen every week...one or two players manage to play the game of their career against OSU. We often absorb those body blows and get the W...but it seems like more often than not it doesn't follow the script and double digit dogs take us to OT (hiya PSU!), or easy Ws on paper require a second half rally to put away...Hoosiers. It takes a clutch drive to keep us in it before the half..TSUN. Or it gets away from us...MSU a year ago..along with Clemson. Va Tech this year..we lapse..they can't miss..and it takes just one quarter for it to get away.
Well, damn it, it's time for us to deliver one of those to someone else. Here we come..underdogs.
I'd love to see us play a complete game. I'd like to see a couple of ours have the game of their career..and we are the ones to really light the game up for a change. We only need 4 points to flip the script..that is just one or two key stops..or one big play on offense..or a special teams highlight. It's RIGHT there in front of this team..we just need a player or two to step up and take their very best shot while everyone else just holdst their spot down. We don't need to make up a couple of TDs like PSU, IU, Va Tech or TSUN did. We need ONE.
We played focused against MSU and walked out with their pride in our pocket..but even that night we made mistakes, turned it over...and didn't play a complete game.
We are due for one.
I said before that MSU game that it was time we won one of those. Now it is time to play a full 60 minutes of sharp, focused ball. It's been too long since we saw that. It may not be JTB in the pocket...but if everyone does their part and one or two of ours really step up big they can make Cardale a legend...and get JTB and the coaching staff the hardware they so richly deserve this season.
I don't want UW to give us one...I want us to take it...
...after all, it's ours and it's been missing since 2009.
Let's take it back.
