Thee Ohio State University News

I'm sure the board is going to just hire another Wexner puppet. I can't see top candidates being interested with Wexner still pulling the strings. That last check had better be a motherfucking dandy; although he donates in ways that move the city forward as much as the university. Oh well, his sweatshop money.

Since he bought his four turkey baster kids spots at Harvard, I really hope they want nothing to do with Ohio State.

Is this a mollification hire? Do get elevating the #2, although does anyone have his resume? Thought Kristina Johnson had the very best qualifications to be Chancellor, but she didn't last. (PS, anyone know where she landed). And thought the last guy had some great stuff on his resume as well, although being head dog at Nebraska not exactly a headline. Anyway, appreciate the quit, as he recognized that being seduced by someone that wanted to tap into tOSU cash flow wasn't quite legit. Wonder if she didn't get held accountable for trying to worm her way into getting money for her business.....anyway, anyone know which business this way?

Remember what happened when OSU cooperated with the NCAA on the tattoo incident? And the NCAA is like Mother Teresa compared to these guys. Cooperation in the current environment is for suckers. You cooperate, and they rake you over the coals anyway. Better to go to court and make them work for it.

Ohio State has been pretty straightforward in complying with the SCOTUS decision on affirmative action. I'd be shocked if they were trying to get around it. What this probably is is the DOJ acting on complaints from white applicants who were rejected, and in their minds since there were obviously some black and brown people accepted into that class, they just couldn't conceive of the possibility that those black and brown applicants just might have been stronger.

Unless the DOJ is simply looking for sacrificial lambs (and that's a possibility) then simply comparing the application portfolio of accepted black and brown applicants to those of rejected white applicants should cover things.

I doubt OSU would act inconsistently with the SCOTUS decision either. But I also doubt that facts matter to the current leaders of the justice department with high profile cases like this one. If they send you a letter and announce it on social media, they’ve probably decided to make an example of you. I would be preparing to go to the mattresses.

Not specifically tOSU news; eventually this sort of thing will find itself that way.

Something I've been speaking about for the better part of 10 years. The inefficiency of the 4 year bachelor program. Hell, after leaving C'Bus, I saw how bloated a simple 2 year Assoc. path had become.

What took me 4 semesters (tOSU was on quarters around the same time) should have been 2. MAYBE 2.5, tops.

- I was not allowed to test out of any classes. As a result, I would sleep-walk through the bulk of my labs 1st year.
- My electives, especially 1st semester, were a complete waste of my time and money.

I'm in favor of a more refined, focused, and career-oriented educational process. I got into the non-clinical Healthcare field. I didn't need a Creative Writing or Public Speaking course.

Perhaps a 'Business/Operations Communcations' would have been more relevant.

Either way, I appreciate the conversation being had, in how we might better streamline higher education.

Yuk. Yuk. Agree with your premise. Maybe after all of these decades, it's time to leave behind the "well-rounded education". Someone on the engineering track for instance, shouldn't need to take a poetry class, no? If you want it, certainly. In undergrad, had a guy on the medicine track, that got A's in his classes, and a D in English. (PS, was an English speaker). Now, as a side, am moving back to Ohio, and while looking to rebuild my stable of doctors, have noted that many are from tOSU School of Medicine. So guess we'll see how many we/I interview to see if they're as good as we have here in the boondocks of California. Stay tuned. PS, is tOSU/Wexner Medical buildings a home for the unqualified med school grads? Kinda tongue in cheek, but also kinda serious....thanks
