The story you missed: Big Ten no weakling, took care of business in OOC

Forget all of the nonsense about a weak Big Ten.

The computer ratings have now converged, which means that estimates of power ratings are calculated completely on data from this year. If you look at the major computer ratings, you will see that the Big Ten conference is ranked second or third in most of them. The Big 12 is second in some ratings and the SEC is tops in most.

Check yourself. We're better than most folks think.

Yea and USC is 4th (at 4-1) after playing only 5 fricking games and lost at home to an unranked Oregon State... I love this shit

They lost at Oregon State, not at home. And they won their four games by scores of 52-7, 35-3, 44-10, and 28-0.

People are dogging USC just about as bad as they are dogging us. Personnally, I still like em to play for and win the MNC. Unless they get leapfrogged in championship week they'll be right there and they have as much as or more talent than any body out there.

Knockin' USC, a team that kicked OSU around far worse than the 35 - 3 score indicated, only pushes the Buckeyes and the Big 10 further down.

Based on what I saw that night they have the speed, strength and depth to go against anyone -- when focused.

Yea, I really think USC can beat anyone when they are focused but I don't have to like it.

I agree with that 100%. I think the NC is still very much up for grabs at this point, and obviously things can change on any given Saturday. Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Penn State, USC, and even Mizzou (depending on what happens this weekend) are all still in the national title hunt.

I'd put a 1-loss USC or a 1-loss Florida versus any of these other teams and you're just about guaranteed to have a great game. I think those 2 teams (USC & Florida) are pound-for-pound the two most athletic and well coached teams in the country, even though they both have 1 loss.

While my first choice is for Ohio State to take care of business vs. Penn State in Columbus on the night of the 25th, I also wouldn't mind seeing the Nittany Lions play in the NC game and represent the Big 10.

Very generous sentiments. You are a better person than I.

Screw Penn State. Go Bucks!

Per the AP:

In the Big XII, PAC 10 and SEC there are 13 teams with less than two losses. All are ranked.

In the Big Ten, Big East and ACC there are 15 such teams. Eight are ranked.

I don't see any bias.

The ACC sucks this year. The Big East is not very deep. The Big-10 suffers from some traditional Big-10 power's unfortunate high profile recent losses - that are indeed biasing voters. *

*Here I refer to the Skunk-Bears recent nuclear melt down.
