The story you missed: Big Ten no weakling, took care of business in OOC

The ACC sucks this year. The Big East is not very deep. The Big-10 suffers from some traditional Big-10 power's unfortunate high profile recent losses - that are indeed biasing voters. *

*Here I refer to the Skunk-Bears recent nuclear melt down.

I used to think Gator would come out of the closet any day, but the new avatar makes me think I might have misunderstood.

How tough is Ohio State's schedule?

The computers will have our power rating between #6 and #10 mostly this week, so I started looking at our SOS on the computers.

Here are the results for the Marsee index for SOS. We are currently ranked #20 on games year-to-date. Our remaining games will leave us with a schedule ranked #5, if power ratings remained constant the rest of the year. link

Perceptions say that the SEC is streets ahead of the Big Ten. The computers tell a very different story. link Don't believe Marsee? Try Sagarin. link

The Buckeyes are playing a tough schedule. As tough or tougher than any SEC team by year end. If the computers start liking us, which they will if we destroy a few good teams like we did the Spartans, things could get very interesting in the BCS.

I think poll voters will do just about anything to keep us out, but if we take Penn State like we did the Spartans (not likely), I think we might just be back in this thing.

Good stuff... perhaps more interesting is that Oklahoma is the only team ranked above us in the polls that is ranked above us in these rankings.

If The Big 10 Is So Horrible........ (and Dan Wetzel is a moron)

articles like this are always good for a laugh

Big Lie: Big Ten - College Football - Rivals.com

breakdown of this article of stupidity "the big 10 sucks"

if the big 10 is so terrible how come the sagaring rankings rank them as the #2 conference AHEAD of the all mighty meca of college football the SEC -
USATODAY.com

anderson and hester another computer poll ranks the Big 10 #3, once again ahead of the great SEC- AndersonSports: the Anderson and Hester-Seattle Times College Football Computer Rankings

Peter Wolfe (another BCS computer) also ranks the Big 10 ahead of the SEC- 2008 College Football

so 3/6 of the BCS computers rank the Big 10 ahead of the SEC

2 of them have the Big 10 as the #2 conference and another has them at #3

but the Big 10 is awful?

and this

How difficult is it to win the modern Big Ten? Well, Minnesota still has a shot at the conference title by winding up 11-1. Last season, the Gophers were 1-11. Nice story, but any league where you can go from 1-11 to 11-1 in a single season is under serious suspicion. It just is.

I didnt see talk of how horrible the Big 12 was last year when the usual annual doormat Kansas pushed for the Big 12 title. Or when Missouri a team that had not had a 10 win season in 47 years won 12 games and actually played for the big 12 title

ok wait, im confused here. if the big ten sucks giant hairy donkey balls, why would it matter if we do or do not have a conference championship game? i mean, psu is legit and according to the article:

This isn?t to say Penn State can?t win the BCS championship game. It?s good enough to win any league.

why would they waste their time playing yet another weak ass big 10 team? wouldn't that be like the sec scheduling a game against a mac team after the sec championship game? hardly makes sense...

:slappy: at Wetzel burning down his own argument with gasoline. If Penn State is good enough to win any league (which they'd have to beat Alabama to accomplish in the SEC) then why the hell does it matter that they're in the Big Ten?

Then this:

This riveting system is what BCS apologists call a playoff, even if not everyone has to face playoff competition.
The implication, I assume, being that Alabama and Texas are facing playoff-caliber competition, and Penn State is not. Never mind that Florida is out of the discussion for losing to Mississippi. Playoff competition my ass.

I guess you guys just aren't playoff-caliber competition.

Because Minnesota has somehow already accomplished this. I guess Vandy and Kansas mean the SEC and Big 12 are shitpiles too. Actually when bad teams do well in the SEC it's called "beating each other up." When it happens in the Big Ten it's just a bad league.

I wish we didn't have to watch games on ESPN. Sitting here watching the Houston v/s Marshall game and they have the fan comments going across the top of the screen. They're all anti Penn State / Big Ten saying how the Big / Ten Penn State won't have a chance against the mighty SEC and Alabama. I'm starting to think ESPN only allows these anti Big Ten comments.

I'm really rooting for Penn State to run the table and kick the fuck out of the SEC / Alabama.

Fuck the SEC.
