For the record, I've never been taken in by this scam. The first time someone approached me, I thought it was odd. The second time was deja vu. After the third, fourth, fifth and sixth time I knew it had to be some kind of hustle.

I thought this thread was going to be about the superior quality of mono sound... :p

But yeah I was approached by the white truck guys about 15 years ago...literally while leaving a higher end audio store (AudioEtc in Dayton) after having bought a pair of Paradigm speakers (Active/20's).

So true. There are plenty of people out there that sell legit brand name merch out of their trunks for 5%-10% of MSRP. It's like the time my wife's sister bought four Coach purses for all her siblings for Christmas for just $20 each. Well, it's still a nice bag -- plenty of room for carrying an iPob and a pair of fOakleys.

I knew some girls in New York that would go to the high end department stores, take pictures of purses that they wanted and then they'd go to Chinatown and buy the same (looking) purse for $20.

A buddy of mine got a really nice Rollex in NYC a few years ago for 20 or 30 bucks.
