The Sopranos (Bada Bing)

Tony calling a taxi was killing him. If it didn't kill him, Tonys still on the hook because of the risk of Chris telling. Chris was so fucked up, coughing up blood, asking tony to call a taxi  tony looked at him and immediatly had 2 choices, which is what i posted.. call 911 or kill him.

I think your over-estimating the impact of a DUI on either of them. No way Chris wanted Tony to kill him. It was cold-blooded.

Agree fully. Selfless sacrifice was not in Christopher's genetic makeup. He was asking Tony either to get him out of there or trade places with him as the driver. Tony knew that he'd flip if busted, so he whacked him.

I'm surprised on how many people want to give Tony a pass on this one.

Look at the folks he has killed, or at least those who were part of 'the family':

Pussy was wearing a wire. Adriana was talking to the cops. There was no decision to be made in either case.

His cousin had violated the rules and was going regardless of who did it - that was euthanasia as much as anything.

Ralphie was a fit of passion, a product of rage by both parties.

But Chris was about paranoia. Sure, he was a risk. But everybody is a risk. He had no real evidence that he was a threat to sell out. If he did he could have asked any of his capos to do the job and they would have without flinching. This was his beloved nephew for nuts sake - doesn't he deserve at least a little investigation? (He couldn't bring himself to kill Vito and Vito was wide open to being exploited.)

It was cold blooded and opportunistic and it was all about the shit that is going on inside his own head.

So now you have a paranoid (are you paranoid if everyone IS out to get you?) who has the biggest guilt trip of his life and can't look anywhere without being reminded he has killed a loved member of his real and business family. Perhaps that is what will bring him down and this series to an end. (Although I was 100% Chris WAS going to turn.)

Did anyone catch the part of the song "Comfortably Numb" where they crashed the car and Tony ultimately killed Christopher?

"The child is grown, the dream is gone"

Classic David Chase symbolism
Excellent point - I caught this episode after traveling so it was DVR time. Plenty of chances to rewind and review - that symbolism was only one of several that permeated the episode.
Comfortably Numb was the beginning, then you had the virtual "Is there Anybody Out There" routine while Phil tried to find Tony in Vegas.

Also great was the Fear and Loathing aspect of his Vegas trip (pun intended) - hitting every number while completely out of his fucking mind.

Then the "I did It!" moment on the canyon's edge just as the new light of the sun flashes over the opposite rim. Carlos C with an attitude.

I thought the whole thing was awesome, the episode is a keeper - marked "Do Not Delete."

definitely one of the more surprising episodes. i was watching him close christopher's nose and thinking to myself, "wow hes really killing him". completely caught off guard. on a side note, having comfortably numb (i believe it was a live version) playing in the background was a great touch. love that song.......

any guesses on who goes next? im thinking its someone from the new york crew. hopefully that douchebag phil but i doubt it....

:pimp:

Damn and some guy from New York makes a move on Meadow

"Hey you have some cream on your chin, maybe I could add some more" :slappy:

Nothing would make me happier than to see the princess forced to, once and for all, confront exactly what these people are. I'll never forget the episode where Finn was working at the construction site and went home in shock because one of the guys busted a bottle across another one's face. Meadow got in his face defending them by saying, "they have modes of conflict resolution brought over from the old country."

I couldn't help but think last night that Meadow, for all of her smarts and education, is the (willfully) ignorant one, and AJ is actually the one who is thinking about and troubled by coming to grips with who and what his father is.
