The Sickest Highlight Tape I Ever Saw Was...

For my money, there's no more incredible running style than Earl Campbell's.

Check out the run around the 1:15 mark. Dude just puts his head down and uses it as a battering ram. Absolutely violent running style.

It's a shame the condition that Earl is in now though. He's definately paying for his physical style of football. Great Video! I loved the part where he just put his helmet into a defenders chest and then almost scored despite his Jersey being ripped to shreds

That video is what the rivalry is about. No mercy, no fear, and intensity. They played so intense. Records go out the window when they strap it up. From the beginning to the end, you would've never known the score was 42-7 by watching them. They played hard until the final whistle.

I know what "the game" is all about so the lesson is unnecessary. Was I fired up for the game? Sure was. Was I pissed at Halftime that we weren't killing them? yup.

However, this game wasn't your typical OSU/UM game. Usually it's for the big ten title, the rose bowl, and sometimes a National Championship. As the game wore on you could see the difference in talent and while it was still awesome to beat Michigan this one didn't have the Buzz like the game normally would.

It doesn't mean I wasn't fired up for the 08' game (because I was in the present at that time) but I just don't get goosebumps watching highlights of a 42-7 game.

The emotions of THE game during the week prior and the time leading up to the game is what its all about. Pending the play/outcome of the game I can get fired up watching previous highlights of the game.

the 01,02,04,05,06*, and 07 games get me fired up still. Obviously our loss in 03 doesn't leave me feeling all warm, and the 08 win brings a smile to my face. It doesn't fire me up though. It's just missing that OSU/UM score. You know the 13-9 or 28-24 victory.

Winning 42-7 is awesome though don't get me wrong, but the game would be better served being a 10-7 OSU victory.

I'm not one to tell another Buckeye they don't "get" the rivalry....but if you weren't doing the moonwalk right into the worm halfway into the fourth quarter...I don't "get" you.

Seriously. To me, I don't give a fuck...the record, the talent, the coaches, the stadium capacity...it's THE GAME.

Hell, I get goosebumps thinking about the '08 game if for nothing more than chalking up another motherfucking line in the "W" column as we pull closer to even in the series.

TSUN fans sure as fuck aren't bashfull throwing out the all time record, even tho a few of those games saw an already established Michigan beating up on the upstart Buckeyes.

Fuck that, I'm getting the chills thinking about beating them next year. Even if it's 80-0.

From an SEC fans point of view I was astounded at the magnitude of the 2006 game. It was the combination of all the FSU/Miami games of the 80's and the UF/FSU games of the 90's rolled into one. The fact that Michigan was damn competitive in that game and the fact that Coach Schembechler died* the week of the game just made more passionate.

*The next time someone tries to tell you that OSU fans are classless knuckleheads - show them the pregame tribute. That's the quietest 100,000 people have ever been. Tremendous respect was displayed for Bo during that game - a great honor. Game repeck game...as it were

And BUCKYLE - I would imagine the 97 game in the big house is their equivalent

That's how every edition of The Game feels to me.

Someone tries to tell me that, I'll dot their "I" while making disparaging comments about the woman that birthed them. :p

My senior year of HS...hmmm...I'm pretty sure we didn't play TSUN that year.

At around the 2:25 mark, that's Jack Tatum driving him back at the goal line, although Earl did regain his momentum and score. One of the all-time great collisions between two legends of the NFL.

Very few players have my respect as a football warrior like the Tyler Rose does. I was honored to be in DKR the day they unveiled the statue of him outside the stadium and honored him at halftime. But those collisions sure took their toll on Earl's mobility.
