I like Rory, but he was getting to be a little much. In fairness, after three days of constant verbal abuse, I'd probably be a little much too. As for DeChambeau, much credit to him for making a run after looking dead. I have a theory, which I haven't bothered to try to data check, that the LIV guys tend to falter on the last day of four (or in the Ryder cup, up to five) round tournaments (see, e.g., Jon Rahm yesterday) because they're not used to playing four competitive rounds in a row anymore.

I've attended three Ryder Cups (2 in U.S., 1 in Belfry/England) and I truly hope this fan behavior does not continue.

I have never seen it this bad at Ryder Cups.

I realize it may be marketed as "Us vs Them", which leads to tribalism, but bringing noisemakers, yelling in people's backswings and not allowing golfers to putt seems a bit much.

This kinda needs to end -- by the organizers -- but it might actually get worse (like a crazed fan attacking a golfer).

Yeah, not acceptable from a golfing crowd. Maybe the Scottsdale fans were transported to Bethpage? Either way, not a normal golfing crowd. And, will bet vcash that in two years, the Brit/world crowd will react the same way. Anyone know where it'll be? Will be on a golf cruise in Ireland/Scotland in two years, with tickets to see British Open (not certain will go).

Yeah, the problem is that the marketing for it is intended to make it seem like some life or death underground fight out of an 80s Van Damme movie. It's fucking golf, so let's all take a deep breath and admire the excellence on display regardless of who it's from.

I see that the 2027 Open is at St. Andrews. If you haven't been before you need to go. I was there for the Open in 1990 (Faldo over Stewart and McNulty), and it's a must do. The 2027 Ryder Cup is at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland.

First off, props for having this in the open discussion forum since golf is definitively not a sport. Second, what a shitshow by the fans. Mcllroy's wife got a beer can upside her head. The ugly American was out in force. There's no way that the Brits will act similar. For one thing, they have class, and we don't.

Umm, perhaps you're not a soccer fan, but I wouldn't put the Brits on a pedestal of fan classiness ...
