One evening this summer I was playing a softball game an campus when three fighter jets rocketed through the sky right above us. They came out of nowhere, and I almost shit myself. It was unbelievable. I think they were doing a flyover for the Red Sox game, but I could have sworn we were being attacked! It made me realize how the Iraqis must feel with those flying overhead every day.

I would see them quite a bit when I lived in Tucson, but they never flew that low over the city.

We had a squad of A-10s come over our old house years ago. They were pretty low. I just stood there standing at them, as I do with any military jet flying over.

Also, I remember being in downtown Cleveland years ago and hearing this incredibly loud noise. For the life of me I could not figure out what it was. Then I realized the air show was in town that weekend. I finally saw the Blue Angels practicing. Very impressive and a bit scary watching them fly around a major city. Not something you expect to see. I pulled the car over so I could get a better view.
