If this art is supposed to make me think, it did. It made me wonder why this "all american girl" looks like a guy in drag. I mean, if you take off the makeup he still looks like a guy. It also made me think about what you are trying to pull over our eyes. ( but I didnt think too long about it)

Maybe it means people can make whatever superficial changes they want, and some people (ahem, Tao) will label them accordingly, under the assumption that the new look means something about who the person actually is, even assigning political views based on a look. Even when we KNOW it is the same person...

Why is it too simple? Sometimes a pretty girl is just a pretty girl.

Taos, how would one show off the diversity of makeup, without falling into the 'social commentary' realm? Is it possible, when Taos is the audience? :wink: I'm fairly sure you could take any set of images and "observe" unintended politics in them.

Not all art even has meaning (which I dislike, but that mindset is readily embraced today).

I tried to think about this from a post-modernistic perspective. In my work, I took an interpretist approach, trying at all times to stay faithful to the most recent thinking in the hermeneutic tradition and feminist theory.

Here is what I got...

"Next time you are in a bar and you think you are about to score with a girl, reach for the crotch because it could be this guy"?
