I must agree that the Gators got totally jobbed...the ref looked right at the Tennessee player take a swing at the Florida player, then called the penalty when the Florida player defended himself. It was as obvious a homer job as I've seen. Not to worry...America's favorite chickenshit fatfuck coach will choke down the stretch again...just like Texas will.

The call was bullshit! They both should have been flagged if anything. I really think that Texas will win the Big 12 this year. Just remeber that they are playing with that 2002 #1 recruiting class, so they have the talent. They have to win eventually!

The problem with that 2002 #1 class is that they can't get 7 D-Tackles on the feild at the same time.

Actually, their Power 16 would make a really nice bracket for a playoff. Tell me which of the those 16 teams that would not have a legitimate claim to the NC if they were to win the playoff...you can't.

Well then teams like Florida and Minnesota who have gripes for not being in it. I agree with you but I'm just playing Devil's advocate for a second. If CFB had a tournament after the regular season; that would make for a whole lot of football for those kids. Might as well turn it into basketball and have confrence playoffs too.

If I were the god of football and decided to have a playoff here is what I would do:

1) ND must join B10. Now all loose ends are tied up.

2) All 5 BCS conferences must now have a championship game.

3) SEC,B10,B12, ACC, Pac10 winners are 5 auto bids to 8 team tourney.

4) All mid major(MW, BE, CUSA etc) funnel into 1 auto bid. Determined however the hell they want, it won't matter they are bounced in the first round anyway.

5) Major conferences then use polls/bcs type formula to award 2 at large bids.No polls till 1st weekend in October, SOS back in play.

-Now all tourney teams will have 12 games played upon entry and only the two NC game finalists will play 15. All "classic pre-season games" obviously need to go away with all teams following a strict 11 game reg season.

-1st round games are home games for the higher seeded team. Final four and NC game use 4 BCS Bowls.

-Teams who don't make tourney can still go to all lesser bowls that are currently played.

This would kill The Game for us but it would be better for CFB as a whole.

The reason it will never happen is $$$$. Everything from pre-season polls to BCS games are designed to maximize profits, as long as the coffers are exploding why change anything? A fans sense of fairness being satisfied by seeing a true NC crowned is hardly the fuel that drives the CFB engine. As long as that fan and all his buddies are making this a billion dollar a year racket, the big wigs would be nuts to change it radically.

1. Why, oh why, oh why, must some people continue to insist that Notre Dame join the Big Ten?

2. Why? We (Big Ten) already have a conprehensive tie-breaking system in place (which by the way has worked quite well in our favor in the past). Any team "left out in the cold" in the tie-breaker would be picked up as an at-large (see #5 below).

3. No problem here. Just need the bracket to be 16 teams like everyone else.

4. Disagree. All teams after the five conference automatics should be picked on their own merit.

5. Agree with no polls until mid-season. Just use a BCS formula to pick the remaining 11 teams of the 16 team bracket.

I put the domers in the B10 so they have to earn a trip just like everyone else. None of this "ND rules" bullshit.

Also this puts all the major NC players into 5 conferences, make the B10 do a champ game and everyones is on an even playing field. You cant pick a reg season winner from a 12 team conf because not everyone plays each other.

I kept the number at 8 so no one plays more than 15 games. Also it puts way more emphasis on winning your conference. I could live with 16 if they cut down on OOC play. 15 games is the max anyone should play.

I can live with polls/bcs picking the rest it really doesn't matter. Just trying to inject a little political realisim-the mid majors will insist on entry so give 'em one spot. They go on the road to a major school get killed and thats that.

There are a million problems with my plan I am sure, I didn't really sit down to work out the details, it'sjust off the hip.

If ND played a candy -ass schedule it would be one thing but just because ND is not in a conference DOES NOT mean that they can't/ or should not have a chance to win a NC! If they play a competive schedule and have enough wins to qualify and are ranked high enough then they deserve the shot.

What the hell does a conference have to do with being a good football team?
