If I'm the CFP, the top-4 goes like this:
1. OSU (toughest schedule overall by a hair and never in a 1-possession game)
2. LSU (tough schedule, but 4 bad defensive games count against them, had 3 one-possession games)
3. Clemson (just not enough quality wins to crack the top-2, had a close call vs UNC)
4. Oklahoma (only 1-loss power conference champ, has a few good wins)

I could care less what ESPN says. The Committee has to really look at each team's resume and look for flaws to put one team behind the other. LSU plainly has more flaws than OSU. Vanderbilt scored their highest point total of the season, 38, against LSU. 8-loss Ole Miss had 37 points and 400 yards rushing, over 600 yards for the game. 38 points by Texas in a 1-score game with a 5-loss team. It just doesn't add up to make them #1 when you recognize that it is a beauty contest and they have more blemishes.

Not only that, but the only reason LSU crushed Georgia is because of their easy ass schedule leading up to the game. How nice would it have been to play a 4 win Ole Miss team that just fired its coach, arguably the worst power 5 team in the country in Ar-KANSAS, and a super average Texas A&M before facing a crippled Georgia team that already had issues on offense. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes had to play two physical games, one of them being a peaking Michigan team, before getting up for an opponent they already crushed in the regular season. Sure would've been nice to get an FCS opponent in there somewhere for resting purposes.

Well that and the SEC has an 8-game conference slate & makes it very easy for UGA to duck almost all of the West powers, and get an inflated ranking. It is natural for the East champ this year to get a bit overrated when they don't face LSU or Bama before the championship game. UGA doesn't really get tested against the best of the best in the SEC regular season anymore. Where would Wisconsin have been ranked if they didn't have to play OSU twice? It seems unfair to reward a conference for their best teams playing less often, but that is where we are with UGA. I honestly think Wisconsin is a better team than UGA.
