While we're here... let's go over whose on the Committee. Few of whom I think watch more than 4 quarters of CFB a week.
tldr version... this is why the CFP poll is basically a blend of AP, Coaches, and what ESPN tells them to do.
The various ADs:
Chair, Rob Mullens - longtime Oregon AD, previous employment ties to Kentucky
Gary Barta - Iowa AD, born MN, grad NDSU, past employment NIU and Washington
Joe Castiglione - OU AD, born FL, alma mater Maryland and OU, previously worked at Missouri
Terry Mohajir - Ark State AD, alma mater same, born in KS, and former employ with Kansas football
Todd Stansbury - GTech AD, played at GTech, longest prev employ at Or State
Scott Stricklin - UF AD, born MS, alma mater MS State, worked MS St, Auburn, Baylor, Kentucky
... I doubt any of them watch more than 1-2 games a week in their own conference. They have shit to do.
It's also not good to have your own AD in that list.
Notably Florida and Oklahoma.
Football related people:
RC Slocum, born LA, played at McNeese State in 60s, longtime HC and asst at Aggy with brief asst stops at KState and USC
.............. currently interim AD at Aggy ?
Ronnie Lott, born NM ... we all know USC, intermittent tv personality in Fox umbrella
Ken Hatfield, born AR, played Arky in 60s, worked at Tenn, UF, USAF, Arky, Clemson, and longtime Rice HC
Frank Beamer, born NC, played VTech in 60s, Citadel / Murray St ... and of course VTech for eternity
.... these are the people I suspect watch a few games every week. They're all retired or seem to have ample free time. But, with exception of Ronnie, they're also old as dirt.
I imagine they still mostly watch their old stomping grounds.
Notable that not a single one of them is Big Ten related. ACC, BXII, SEC, and PAC are all rep'd.
Randoms... these people probably don't watch a single game... here for prestige swapping ? Getting some name recognition while lending their name credibility to "the process" ?
General Odierno - born NJ, West Point / NC State / Naval War College. Retired 2015. I suspect he has other things to do... even after retirement, these guys tend to stay busy in the DC thinktank circles... and sure enough he's at JP Morgan and a Charter Airline.
Chris Howard - Pres of Robert Morris U... born PA, USAF Academy / Oxford / Harvard. Played RB at USAFA. He could go in the previous category but as the Pres of a University... seems more fitting here. He surely has other shit to do.
Paola Boivin - alum Illinois, Prof ASU and sports columnist, teaches courses in Sports Reporting and Sports Media, worked for various papers and tv shows around AZ. Could arguably be in the former category too, but as the only woman surrounded by 90yr old David Petersens... and as somebody that may as well be an AP voter... I'm meh. Only person with no Wiki... so I looked at her Twitter, she RTs a lot of other sports... only CFB RTs are about ASU...
Man, General Odierno got fat as fuck! Knife hands Mattis needs to have a word with him.PSA for who/what this Committee actually is.

OU almost got fucked by the AD rule... but Utah saved them.
In retrospect, also explains some of the Aggy insanity.
Someone should tell him the dumb fuck that keeps trying to put Georgia in the playoffs the last few years needs a throat punch.Rob Mullens trying to justify LSU over the Buckeyes is pretty laughable. He just said strength of schedule is an important element. Obviously not as important since OSU has a better SOS then LSU does. He also said that Georgia was still in discussion for the 4 seed with Oklahoma, GTFOH.
That Orange Bowl is...woof.
