I agree Smith will be next (Heisman), but I don't think all of those guys listed were as dominant in their respective positions while at OSU... Pace isn't just one of the greatest Buckeyes of all time, he was one of the greatest college offensive linemen of all time.

Are you aware that John Hicks finished 2nd in the Heisman voting in 1973?

... and Pace finished 4th in the heisman (as an OL!), how close were any of those guys?

Bill Willis is in the Ohio High School football Hall of Fame, Ohio State Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was also a pioneer (along with Marion Motley) in the reintergration of the NFL. He definitely deserves to be retired.

I don't disagree with any of the arguments presented, but it seems to me that Owens is in a class of his own. First of all he was a world class athlete, way beyond national achievement. Then consider the length his records remained as world marks and the fact that he achieved them before he really had the time to fully mature as an athlete. Lastly, no synthetic running surface, no starting blocks and leather shoes.

Agreed. Sure, he has a stadium to his name, but I don't think that's enough.
