buckeyegrad: "So, which of these remakes makes you cringe the most:"
My answer: "Or, Cedric The Entertainer and Mike Epps as Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton in a hip-hop update of the Honeymooners?"
My reasoning: there are certain TV characters that're synonymous with the actors who played them: Ralph Kramden, Archie Bunker, Fonzie, Kramer, and (more recently) Tony Soprano. You can't have another actor playing those characters because you could never pull it off.
Its so far off from what the Honeymooners were, that they might as well call this movie Hip-Hop Bus Driver & Sewer Worker and go from there ..
BuckeyeFlorida: "Coy and Vance"
And B-I-N-G-O was his Name-O! We have a winner! I remember the names, but I didn't watch much of that season. I think it was the same year of the "Bobby Ewing Dream" on Dallas. What an awful year for CBS.
OB: "I take issue with any sentence that includes the words "imperfect" AND "Marisa Tomei"."
Imperfect in the sense that the character has some sort of problem: memory loss, slut, weirdo, etc. I, like George Costanza, would take Marisa Tomei in a heartbeat.
Oh8ch: "Has there ever been a worse actor than Burt Reynolds?"
The role of Paul Crewe in the original Longest Yard was a tailor-made role for Reynolds, actually. He was great in that movie.
