The Legend of Mike Barwis

Our S&C coach at OSU knows the guy that UM hired (Aaron Wellman) and said he was a smart hire by Michigan. Also had some funny stories about Barwis from his days at both Michigan and West Virginia. Said some kids graduated without ever hearing Barwis not yell...

Instead of putting yourself through a Barwis workout you might want to just have someone kick you in the nuts. It will cause the same amount of pain and be much quicker. Although I doubt the results will be the same. I truly believe he will end up having just as big of an impact on this program as RR when it is all said and down. Two-three years down I don't see any program in the country being in equally physical shape as our Wolverines.

Michigan fans were in such a tizzy over breaking away from the stale and unmotivated "Michigan Man" regime of Lloyd Carr as reflected by their unnatural fondness of Barwis. They got exactly that while improving every year but for some reason cut ties halfway into the transformation.

They then decided to double down on a guy that takes Carr levels of entitlement and apathy to disgusting extremes- to the point that the modern "Michigan Man" is a caricature of itself that Schembechler wouldn't even recognize. Oh, and they've gotten worse every year in the process and are well on their way back to the entitlement and apathy that led to fun things like losing to Appalachian State despite having top 10 recruiting classes every single season.

It's like a greek play about hubris.

Can someone recap what exactly the thought process was behind firing Rodriguez again. In retrospect it seems like a really bad move- which is a hilarious testament to what a jackass Hoke is.

My recollection is that Rodriguez totally ignored defense and was trying to bring in recruits that rubbed the Michigan elite the wrong way. The 3-9 opening season dug a hole that he was never able to dig out of despite constant improvement. Am I missing something?
