The Legend of Mike Barwis

The Legend of Barwis Continues

"We cover more than anyone in the world," Barwis said. "We're kind of the pioneers of the most progressive strength program in the country. We (West Virginia) were the strongest team in the country the last four years -- best conditioned, the fastest, most balanced, best body awareness, and most explosive."

OK Michigan fans, if WVU was the strongest team in the country the past 4 years, why did NFL GMs question the strength of Dan Mozes, WVU's Rimington Award Winner, and not draft him?

Or, why did they run out of gas late in the game when they met a fast, phyical USF defense? Please, I'm sure he's a very good S&C coach and a helluva motivator, but to claim he's doing things that are far more progressive than many other elite programs is just more egotistical bullshit from up north.

Mike Barwis's ego could kick Chuck Norris's ass.

Re: 2008 tUOS vs 2006 UM
If Michigan would have had Barwis in 2006, and 2005 they would have beaten tUOS... it was that little difference and the 4th quarter conditioning that made the difference. UM lost a big lead in the 4th quarter in 05 and couldnt push over the edge in 06.

No doubt. No doubt at all.

Excerpt from the 4,000th article mentionig Mike Barwis this week: Spencer Hall (aka Orson Swindle) from Sporting News: See A Different Game
Hall compares 2008 teams to popular movies.

The Empire Strikes Back: Michigan
Michigan Jedi recruit: I won't fail you. I'm not afraid.
Master Barwis: You will be. You will be.
Michigan strength coach Mike Barwis sounds a bit like Yoda if you dropped the voice down an octave and had him read a biochemistry textbook at high speed. He is also Yoda-esque in his training methods, since he could have Michigan players lifting X-wings out of local bogs, for all I know.
Barwis and his N.W.O. (New Weight Order) have been one of the stories of the offseason as Michigan's players wept, screamed, and clawed their way through the new pain regimen in Ann Arbor. Olympic weightlifting, ab-torching core work, chocolate milk as a recovery beverage ... it's all Dagobah swamp torture in the name of saving Michigan's football universe. If all goes according to plan, the players will be force-pushing linebackers into the secondary in no time flat. Continuing the Empire theme, Rich Rodriguez had his own struggle with bounty hunters this offseason as West Virginia refused to yield on his $4 million buyout. WVU followed him all the way to Michigan to get it, and they got it. He got to keep Barwis, though, who once had a wolf for a pet. Not. Making. That. Up.

No kidding. The mild "golf clap" at the end of the rant was the highlight of it for me. That and how the people sitting on the floor were just staring at him like, "Oh great, here we go again..."

Exactly. That kind of act gets old really fast.

But scUM fans have found their savior. No need to piss on their party...until November. :tongue2:

Ron English was also their savior at one time, but then again, he didn't keep a pet wolf or use to fight MMA.

Yep. He was going to unleash all that superior talent that Herrman(sp?) had been holding back with his stone age defensive schemes iirc.

How did that work out for them?
