The Howard Stern Show (official thread)

In regards to Howard's comments in Entertainment Weekly about being upset that not more people have followed him to Sirius, he talked about that on the show this morning and was pissed that the wire services ran with the story without giving the context.

He made the statement while laughing and in a sarcastic tone, basically saying he's so mentally deranged that he says this stuff to his shrink.

He says he's almost unsatisfiable.

Read the part in the cut and paste below and the (Laugh) part puts it into context.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Does it bother you that most of your fans haven't followed you to Sirius?

I was just at my psychiatrist and I said, ''I just got great news: We hit the 4 million mark. And I'm angry. It should be 20 million.'' It's insulting to me that everyone hasn't come with me. I take it personally. The competitive thing is a sickness that eats at me. I want to say to my audience in this article, ''F--- you! You haven't come with me yet? How dare you?'' [Laughs] ''We're up to wild, crazy stuff, the show has never sounded better. You cheap bastard!''

David Lee Roth Booted From Radio Gig

April 20, 2006, 3:30 PM ET

Paul Heine and Mike Boyle, N.Y.

David Lee Roth's short-lived radio CBS morning show stint will come to a screeching halt within a few weeks, sources say. In one of the first satellite-to-terrestrial radio syndication deals, XM Satellite Radio has an agreement in place to license its Opie & Anthony Show to CBS Radio as a replacement for Roth in seven markets.

Opie and Anthony will air on all seven stations where Roth replaced Howard Stern in January: WFNY New York, WYSP Philadelphia, WBCN Boston, KLLI Dallas, WNCX Cleveland, WRKZ Pittsburgh and WPBZ West Palm Beach.

Coming days before Winter 2006 Arbitron results will document Roth's morning ratings disaster, the agreement allows CBS to air a three-hour version of the O&A show that will originate from its WFNY studios. CBS will have control over this portion of the program, which will simulcast uncensored on XM.

The hosts of one of XM's 10 most-listened-to shows, Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia previously did afternoons for CBS predecessor Infinity Broadcasting at WNEW-FM New York and were simulcast on WYSP and WBCN. Fired after their infamous "Sex For Sam" broadcast, where a couple allegedly had sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral at their urging, the pair sat on the beach for two years before XM hired them in August 2004.

Roth replaced Stern in seven markets in January, when Stern began a new five-year deal at Sirius Satellite Radio.

If only they would have agreed to put O&A on here in Cincy and get rid of the pathetic Rover's Morning Gloryhole Show. God it's awful. Eh, O&A aren't much better (like that really says something), but at least it would be an improvement.

The re-signing of O&A is actually pretty funny/pathetic. CBS chose to brag about how they would get away from shows like Stern's that were "distasteful", but now they're going back to the guys they canned who have arguably the most fould show outside of satellite radio. Nice... Then CBS sues Stern for promoting his move to a "competitor" (a suit with no merit whatsoever), yet signs these hacks and will allow them to promote XM as part of their show. Uh...I'm not saying CBS radio is run by complete idiots, but...

What I am wondering is how bad the O&A show will be once it is all edited since they are taking their actually XM show and then going to edit it for CBS radio.

I've listened to RMG almost everyday for the past 2-3 years and love the show. Many people who listened to Stern won't even give RMG a chance, even though Rover was killing Stern in Cleveland before he went to Sirius. Rover is the best thing CBS Radio has going right now. The biggest problem is all the censoring that is going on. They won't even let you say "drop a deuce" on the radio anymore. Just be happy that you never had to listen to Roth's show. That was the worst radio show that I've ever tried to listen to (during a few of the RMG commercial breaks). Noted Rover was better back when he was just in Cleveland, but it's still better radio than anything else you are going to get without XM or Sirius.

I gave Rover a chance for 2 months and decided I'd rather listen to nothing instead of his show. It's just horrible radio. I will give him some credit and say that he's better than the likes of Bob and Tom and the local morning shows. I'm not sure there's anything worse on radio outside of Bob and Tom.

Rover had a 0 or 0.1 rating in Chicago during the first ratings period.

That tells me all I need to know.

Now get busy paying homage to the Almighty Sybian!

Gotta agree here. RMG always put me in a pissy mood coming in to work because I absolutley hated that 2 faced broad they have on the show. I only gave it as much time as I did because I was hoping the crazy roid rage dude would snap and slap her on the air. I've got Sirius now, and once again, radio is part of my life. I actually don't mind morning traffic jams, because then I can listen to more Stern or the kick ass music channels.

You can't go by the one month trends. Rover has a 20 share in Cleveland. Give him 6 months to a year before you throw out ratings from the new cities to back up your argument. Is it really that much fun listening to a chick riding the Sybian (great vids BTW)? Anal ring toss just isn't the same if you can't see it. I used to watch Stern on E!, but I could never listen to him.

Duji's an annoying bitch, but that's her role. Her or Dieter taking the retarded side of every argument which is what gets people to call in. Half the fun is listening to the callers that don't know it's a joke.

So if Rover is better than Bob and Tom and local radio shows, who is better than him for people who don't have satellite? Besides Rover I listen to music all day and 92.3 is the best for that in Cleveland or 107.1 in Cbus.

I wholeheartedly agree. That's another reason why I think Roth is getting screwed and CBS radio is a piece of garbage. Dumping any of these guys this quickly is nothing more than an ignorant move by a scumbag company.

But a 0 means no one is listening. You'd think he'd at least keep some of the Stern crowd.

The best show I ever heard was about a month ago when Stern had the chicks from fuckingmachines.com.

These whores jerry-rigged housefold appliances to be sexual toys. Sawzalls, cake mixers, chainsaws etc...

One chick "squirted" across the studio when she got off and it hit Baba Booey right in the face and eye! :slappy:

Duck!!! I do miss Stern on tv.
