Well, shooting your age gets easier each year.....Big Momma certainly didn't look like the Korda's of today. But could she play! Used to cash in every tournament. Wonder how well she would have done with the upgrades to golf technology nowadays. You can tell by her face, she's still got it in terms of intensity. Oh well, the women have had some very good players, and always new ones coming up that can hit it farther, putt it better, and score better. Men should watch the women, as the men hit it so obscenely far it's unreal. And the women have better short games.

Grew up playing the Scarlet & Gray courses, but not many friends had that privilege, so we played several/many of the muni's in Columbus area. Have played in country club settings for last 25+ years, but still play muni's or semi-munis (Bayonet/Black Horse and Poppy Hills in Monterey area), and most of the courses of Tahoe/Truckee/Reno, where had a "Baker Open" for 34+ years. The higher dollar courses tend to separate the hackers out, but slow players abound on ALL courses. At least on the muni's, there's a marshal (usually) that will speed along the slow-pokes, or have them stand aside and let faster players go through. CC's on the other hand, not so much, as the Asst Pro who tells an owner to stand aside faces the problem that the member may/will someday get on the Board, and work hard to get that guy fired. Sad but very true.

Have you ever used PING clubs?

Absolutely. Had a set of PI3 irons for years. Purchased Titleist irons (with graphite shafts - a concession to age), five years ago, and still strike them pure. Play Ping driver(s). Have an Autolite shafted driver with my beloved 400Max, and another autolite shaft (more stiff) with a new 430 head. Would have stayed with Ping irons, but simply didn't like the 'aspect' as stood over the ball. Tried about a dozen brands, until the (exasperated) guy at Dunn's informed me that I hit the Titleist's straighter. PS, my game didn't need the offset any longer...but they're very forgiving.

I used to work for the Solheims. Met with Karsten and Louise many times. The whole family is top notch.

Dub, way back when, was my goal to get down to AZ and get fitted at the Solheim clinic. Never came to fruition, but from all that I read, Karsten was both a top flight innovator, a great friend to ASU, and a top notch person. Didn't he even build a golf course for ASU?

Yes he did. When I knew him he was just starting to come down with Parkinson disease but he was still all there mentally. It was sad to see his deterioration. Louise was a gem and the kids (well they were old men to me at the time) were so humble and respectful to everyone.

Louise lived to be 99

Visited Top Golf in C'bus while visiting daughter. Seems quite busy all of the time. Any experiences out there to share? Great for cold weather states where cannot play during winter, personally don't like beating balls into a screen that shows the ball soaring 250 yards, when you cannot hit it 220 on course. Interested in knowing. thanks.

Does Hanford ever get socked in with fog like Bakersfield? I imagine that can put quite the damper on your golf game.
