Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 42, Michigan 7 (Nov. 22)

I can't see a scenario where Ohio State loses this game to be honest. I'm even having trouble creating a scenario that has this game even close. Rod has not embraced this rivalry the way that he should. The "we have several rivals" bull[censored] is very reminiscent of John Cooper's "it's just another game on our schedule" preemptive strike every year. You know, the ones that he put out there in anticipation of the loss every year.

Not only do they not have the horses to compete, but they don't have the heart either. They laid down yesterday and I've NEVER seen that out of a Michigan team.

They are in serious trouble, not only this season, but for the foreseeable future. They aren't going to be much better next season and I'm not sure what's going to change in following seasons.

Watch what you say, The coach may not realize the tradition of the rivalry but you can be sure that the players do. They won't lay down on saturday, you can bet on it. If App St. can beat scUM, and Stanford can beat USC, then anyone can be beat on any given day.

Watch what??? I watched them lose to a team we beat by 30+ yesterday...at the bighouse...hell it would have been worse if they threw the ball more. If you have more than one good WR you will score 30+ on Michigan. If this game were in AA I would be a little nervous. Shoot 7 of their points came off special teams.

They are pathetic. There is no way we will lose unless we turn the ball over 4-5 times and/or play horrible on special teams.

IMO they better watch out. IMO the seniors on this team are gonna take out their frustration of how the season turned out on their hapless asses.

Absolutely agree that nothing is a given and UM definitely has a chance in this one.

On the other hand, I agree that UM is not the only team trying to salvage something. This is not the season OSU was looking for. This is our chance to put an exclamation point on the end of our record. Our chances of going in flat are minuscule and their chances of pulling the upset are very very small. (They do not have anything remotely resembling a quarterback.)

But not zero.

I am actually nervous about The Game because I feel like OSU might feel way too overconfident about it. I am getting the feeling that this is a quick flashback to Woody Hayes' great disappointment against Bo in his first rivalry game where he was supposed to be heavily favored.

Go back and read post 178 of this thread...

It's time to roll out the scarlet carpet, welcome DickRod to the Big Ten, and show him playing Pitt in your rivalry game is nothing.

BEAT SCUM'S ASS!

I agree, we are fighting for a BCS bowl in this game, we have to win and by a comfortable margin for the selection team to give us the benefit of the doubt. Our guys know this and will be motivated. The icing on the cake will be to sent scUM to their worst losing season EVER! That kind of motivation doesn't come around every year.:osu:

Classic footage:

1968, enough said!

YouTube - 1968 Ohio State Michigan

SweaterVest, Thanks for this post and clip. I , as a young man of 14, was at that game with my father. We were about 10 rows down on C deck and although it was cold, I have never had more fun at an OSU game before or since. The crowd was truly amazing. People forget that before the 68 team, Woody was going through a little bit of a dry spell. If my father was any indication, no OSU fan was ready for the trashing the weasels were going to get that day.

40 years later, the clip you posted has brought back memories of that day as if it were yesteday. It means alot to me because last Febuary my father passed away. Time and illness had robbed him of many of his memories so that his passing was truly a blessing. The gift that you me this morning is the memory of my father as he was then, a man younger then I am today, on a cold, clear November day, as we both cheered on the greatest team in college football.

And for the first time since his death, I find myself crying. Tears of sadness for loss of that younger man for sure, but mostly tears of joy. Tears of joy at being born his son. Tears of joy for being born a Buckeye.

Thanks again.....:oh:
