Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 42, Michigan 7 (Nov. 22)

It was interesting reading that article. I'd say the impressions the TSUN fan base have of JT have changed quote a bit over the last 8 seasons.

It's also noteworthy that some TSUN writer talking about the importance of The Game can't even get the score correct for the most important victory that TSUN ever had in the rivalry. He wrote 24-10 as the score from Bo's rookie season. :shake:

After my time on the UNC faculty last year and living in Chapel Hill, I came away with a healthy appreciation of the Duke - UNC basketball rivalry. It really is an intense rivalry, made more so because only 30 miles or so separate the schools. You shop at the same major regional mall as the enemy, so to speak.

Notwithstanding my respect for that rivalry, nothing comes close to the Ohio State - Michigan rivalry in football.
Def. agree... I am a HUGE Tar Heel fan and this rivalry is intense and heated...

but it doesn't come close to The Game.

Just a little tidbit about Michigan's defense--they gave up 42+ points in half of their conference games this year:

Illinois 45-20
Penn State 46-17
Purdue 48-42
Ohio State 42-7

In their eight conference games, Michigan gave up a total of 268 points, or 33.5 points per game.

  1. That game was at Ann Arbor
  2. Michigan actually a very good team that year
  3. Michigan's "rookie" coach turned out to be a Hall-of-Fame caliber coach
  4. Michigan's "rookie" coach understood the magnitude of The Game

None of the above four points apply this year...

Looks like all four points remained irrelevent... :wink2:

Can't wait to see how good they are with Trent's backup and a different defensive line. I bet they're fuckin' excellent.
