Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 14, TSUN 3 (final)

OSU comes out of Ann Arbor smelling like roses
By Dave Briggs & Zack Timmons, The Lantern
November 19, 2007 (CSTV U-WIRE) ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Celebrating a bid to the bowl that once meant everything with roses in their mouths, Ohio State's players might aim even higher following Saturday's win.
Another weekend of upsets at the top of the polls has pushed the Buckeyes up to fifth in the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings, which begs the question: Are the Buckeyes still thinking about a national title?
"Oh definitely," safety Jamario O'Neal said. "Anything can happen. On any given Saturday, anybody can lose."

For some reason this headline struck me as funny. Not many things come out of Ann Arbor smelling like roses. More like fish and vinegar.

It's two days later, and I would just like to once again say...Fuck Michigan!

Four years, baby! Four years in a row! Friends of mine who like TTUN are sick to their stomachs. They just can't stand the fact that I'll be talking smack for four straight years. It's phenomenal.

All is finally right in the world. For just a moment, I'll put humility aside and bask in the glory.

The fact is that we are just plain better than they are. We have the better football team, better coach, better players, better stadium, better fans, better everything. We are everything that TSUN cannot be. They cannot be tOSU, so they attempt to weasel some Ohio players, but they still are just plain ol' TSUN.

We are the better people, and now they must lie down like dogs for another 365 days and submit to their football masters and they must accept the morsels of humanity that we toss over to them in an effort to keep the good little doggie "down". We are The Ohio State, and they are something less than that. They can stick their nose in the air and act arrogant...but it is just that, an act. In the end, they will still just be the doggie that can occasionally bite, but is still mastered by the owner. We are the owner. They are the pet. And now that we've demonstrated that again, they can go back to their Dog (Big) House and enjoy whatever leftovers we leave them.

Agreed. The only moment of nervousness I got after the 2nd TD was Mallett coming out and immediately making a throw (caught, no less!) that Henne couldn't make all day.

I felt the exact same way - when Mallet came in and made that first throw - I thought Oh Shit...here we go. I felt like we were fortunate to get him off of the field his first drive. I was actually relieved when Henne came out of the locker room. Carr was in a bad spot there - keep Henne on the sideline after he came back and devoted a year of his life to this game, even if it reduces your chances of winning? That's a tough call to make, and I think Carr made the right choice - Mallet will live to play another day, and if the situation were reversed, I think JT would have done the same thing. Carr is a good guy (easy to say now that he's done), just not a great coach.

I don't think you can fault Henne (his complete lack of pocket presence notwithstanding); Manningham dropped a bundle of first down passes that were right on the hands and/or leading him in stride.

Overheard in the TSUN locker room post game:

CH: "Hey Mario, sorry I hit 'cha in the hands with those passes."

I work with Englemon's step-father, and all I've been heaing about for the last two weeks is how he is going to shut down the BUCKS. If anyone has the shot of Beanie laying him out, please post it so I can print it out and hold it up when he starts running his mouth.

And yes, Englemon is an official traitor (although he is listed as being from Northern Kentucky, he grew up in OH-IO)

HAHAHAHAHA I know 4 or 5 people that are related to him(cousins) I havn't gotten the chance yet-but you know I'm gonna rub that shit in real good

:)

Not to get off of the topic [EDIT - off-topic split] but did anyone notice the cold shoulder Tress got from Carr after the game? The replay I saw seemed like Carr just gave him a "drive by" handshake. Just curious if anyone else noticed, or if I missed something.

Appeared that way to me as well...explains why Henne and Hart left by a side (to avoid media) learned from the coach:osu:

Just remember. No freshman QB has ever won The Game
