Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 14, TSUN 3 (final)

Here's why I mentioned the Outback Bowl:

IF MICHIGAN LOSES TO OHIO STATE ON SATURDAY

Capital One (Jan. 1) in Orlando: A lock if Illinois loses to Northwestern next Saturday. If Illinois wins, U-M and Illinois will be tied with two conference losses, and the Capital One can select the Illini over Michigan if it wants.

Outback (Jan. 1) in Tampa: If Illinois beats Northwestern and the Capital One takes Illinois, the Outback almost assuredly would invite U-M.

Illinois did NOT lose today: time to pack for Tampa!

Is there still an outside chance of an Illinois BCS bowl? If the scenario plays out where OSU gets into the BCS champ bowl, Illinois could climb into one of them at-large

Sure it does. Gholston didn't do anything against Long last year. That, plus the fact that Schilling is terrible, makes me want Long on Gholston.

You don't get to choose. What if Heacock puts Gholston on Long's side on running downs and on Schilling's side on passing downs?

...posted B4 the game

I said before the game that Gholston would line up over Schilling on passing downs. The result was not entirely unexpected.

...

I guess I didn't really say he would, but it didn't take a genius to figure out where to line-up Gholston on passing downs...

...it's just a coincidence that a genius (I mean JT, for those of you who are something wholly other than geniuses) DID figure out where to line-up big-Vern on passing downs.

No offense to the Sniper's out there that have shown true class in the loss for their team, but who was that team that the Bucks just played??? I realize they were banged up, but that offense was vile. The weather played a part too I understand, but they looked like they were convinced they were going to lose before the game started.

As for the Bucks, awesome. Beanie, godly. Vern, godly. I think that is the first time I have watched a team run out an entire half to win a game. Great game Buckeyes and we can all hope that the moon, stars and Saturn all align so that we get back a chance to play in New Orleans, but no matter what this team exceeded my expectations going into this season and the Roses will sure smell great.

It is the Capital One Bowl. It is played in the Citrus Bowl, if that is what you meant, my apologies for calling you out.

No prob. I knew it had changed names but I'm old fashioned.

You, me, everyone else on the board and scUM fans all know what I meant :wink2:

As another example of something that the Big Ten Network provides that you just don't get from the Disney Family of Sports Television...

The BTN had, as one of their ten "Hot Questions" of 'Big Ten Tonight', "Can Illinois make it into a BCS game?".

The Illini can make it to Pasadena, and the fact that they are a big, BIG 10 school with a large alumni base that travels well helps.

As has been said, Bowls choosed based on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and little else.

My take...
If OSU backs into the title game, Illinois will be chosen by the Rose Bowl Committee, which is dominated by old-school guys that want b10 vs. p10. If OSU doesn't get into the title game, Illinois will end up in Florida for the holidays.

no wonder people like Sinper hang out on BP...

Thank you to Lloyd, his coaching staff and this Michigan group of football players for virtually destroying the Michigan football tradition. On the anniversary of Bo's death, the offense played the most gutless, heartless game I have ever seen at any level. The receivers didn't hold or pursue the ball, the QB's couldn't throw on target, the O-line couldn't block anyone and the coaching staff had no gameplan for this OSU defense which was shredded last week by Illinois.

Thank you for disgracing the Michigan tradition and making it very clear to a national audience that this is no longer a competitive rivalry. Ohio State loses Smith, Ginn, Gonzales and still blows us out at home. Maybe we can petition the Big 10 to get the OSU game on the rotation so we don't get embarrassed every year by the Buckeyes.

At least Michigan State showed some heart and battled the Buckeyes in the Horseshoe for a 23-16 loss. D'Antonio's kids battled the whole game. Our offense essentially quit after the first quarter.

I'm sorry because I love Michigan but this was the most disgraceful performance I have ever seen, especially with so much on the line.

This ship has finally sunk. After years of mediocrity, covered by poor competition in a down conference, this coach has finally been exposed as a fraud.

And I'm sorry, but the same needs to be said of Henne and Hart. That's right, the Mike Hart who couldn't break free of tackles when the line breaks. Good RBs break tackles or run around them when the line is playing poorly. Good QBs don't overthrow passes, or throws behind receivers. Can you really blame Manningham and Arrington? They knew this offense was inept, so they tried to look downfield to see if they could make plays with their feet. Sorry, but Henne and Hart have been exposed as vastly overrated frauds who cannot perform at all unless the line plays perfectly.

The performance in one word was HEARTLESS. I was so frustrated and pissed off I almost turned the game off with about 10:00 to go in the 3rd quarter. As for Lloyd and his staff ruining the tradition, I think it will take a lot more than this season to do that.

just plain sad and pitiful... as difficult as if is for me to admit this, my heart goes out to the M*ch*g*n seniors. the only frauds up there are the so-called fans up there in AA... ann arbor is INDEED a whore!

Backs in my ass! Kansas is the only team out there without a loss and they haven't played much of a schedule. OSU is just as deserving as any of the six teams in front of them. It's more of that lose-early-and-you-can-recover, lose-late-and-you're-fucked mentality.

Big props to Tress, Heacock, and the players for employing the hack-a-Manningham strategy. 15 < 50 + 6. It was ugly at times, but I approved.

I could never figure out why other teams didn't do it. If you can't pick the jump ball, tackle the guy that might. It's Michigan's entire offense. Live to sack Henne on the next series.

OK Buckeye fans, I just sat back and read posts....

First: Great job by the D only giving up 3 pts on the ROAD!!!

Second: FUCK YOU scUM

Third: Roses are nice but crystal is better  ( we can all HOPE)

Forth: A messy win with weather factors in the Shit House makes it better.

Fifth: Hart Go fuck yourself and all the shit talking you did ( even calling a victory of ND, that shit is lame as hell. Have fun being a short imposter, hoping some one drafts you so you dont have to play indoors or in Canada  )

GO BUCKS

Now that was a good game...I'm surprised Tressel didn't pass more on 3rd down but given the weather I understand it and hats off to the defense.

I'll be looking for the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl on Janurary 1st since its nly 3 hours from me and I already bought 2 tickets........Unless they get into the BCS championship game, but I'm not holding my breath since alot of voters favor the SEC and LSU......

All in all good game and I'm sure its the last time weve seen Carr........

Don't strain yourself feeling sorry for those motherfuckers. Remember '95 and '96 and their smug ass arrogance all through the Cooper years anytime you catch yourself in a moment of weakness.

They would be talking insane shit right now had they won that game. They are only just now halfway to repaying the Cooper debt they owe us. That went on for 13 years, this has only been 7.

6 years from now I MIGHT start to feel the least bit sorry for those arrogant fucks. Till then I enjoy sights like their fans literally in tears at the end of The Game and look foreward to the screen shots making it onto the Internet.
